Plural Term

I'm not a fan of the term "Grands Prix". Wizards of the Coast doesn't use this form itself, preferring just using "Grand Prix" to refer to both singular and plural events. (See, for instance, the first sentence of [1], "Grand Prix are easily the biggest open events the DCI offers.") I think I'd prefer to keep it as "Grand Prix", and think a construction like "Grand Prix tournaments" would be the least awkward. As it's a kind of a brand name, perhaps it should have the adjective-like use throughout? --PeterCooperJr (talk) 17:03, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

I just looked it up at Merriam Webster and the correct plural is "Grand Prix" or even "Grands Prix". So while using "Grand Prix" as plural might seem a bit awkward because it is unusual it is right. "Grand Prix tournaments" is a bit clunkier but I think there is no fault to this formulation, either. The only phrase which should not be used (and I have employed it often myself) is "Grand Prixs" because that is just plain wrong. OdinFK (talk) 20:13, 10 May 2010 (UTC)

Day One competition split?

According to this article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Magic:_The_Gathering_Grand_Prix_events there have been quite a few Grand Prix events that have not been split on Day One when exceeding 800, 900 or even 1,000 participants. Is there a source to show that the events are supposed to split once they reach 800 players?
