Talk:Government Junta of Chile (1973)

Something seems to be missing in this sentence: "When General Pinochet took over as President, following a national plesbicite that approved a the new constitution." Vints 09:23, 7 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I find Pinochet's posts a bit confusing. Was he president of the government junta 11 sep '73 - 27 june '74 (as the President of Chile article suggests) or until 11 march '81 (as the Augusto Pinochet article says)? And is "self-proclaimed President of Chile" correct? Vints 09:40, 7 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • Good point. He was "President/Chairman of the Government Junta" from 11/09/73 to 27/06/74, when he was granted the title "Supreme Chief of the Nation". This title had very little precedent or use, and was changed to "President of Chile" at the end of 1974. All the while he continued being the President/Chairman of the Junta, until 11/03/81, when he was sworn as "Constitutional President of Chile", following the coming into effect of the new constitution of 1980, and its temporary articles, and he stopped being part of the Government Junta. As such he remained, constitutionally, until 11/03/90, when his term ended and he handed power to Patricio Aylwin. Mel Romero 01:42, 8 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Junta1973.jpg edit

Image:Junta1973.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
