Goniatites are ammonoids, Nautilus are cephalopods - the similarities are only aesthetic ones.
I originally wrote this article in 1998 and published it on the Web....
It need links to other articles.

Merge duplicated articles Suggestion
editGoniatites should be merged into Goniatite as duplicate topic. Nmclough (talk) 22:35, 26 March 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose They are taxonomic topics on two very different levels of the Taxonomy. Goniatite is for the entire cephalopod order, while Goniatites is solely on one single genus.--Kevmin § 19:21, 27 March 2017 (UTC)
