Composition Voodoo edit

I have to say, I feel like there should be a section on "composition voodoo" to contain all these 20th century "rules" that were invariably invented by photographers, for photographers, and then retrofitted to classical painting. Then we could throw this thing, the golden spiral, the golden rectangle, both versions of the rule of thirds, and god knows what else into that.

None of this material has any classical basis whatsoever, it was all devised in the 20th century to "explain" either classical art, or as a way to teach composition to photographers who, as separate from other groups or artists, really respond well to algorithmic approaches.

Probably voodoo is the wrong word. Amolitor99 (talk) 23:27, 14 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

The concept of "composition voodoo" would have to be notable and published in a reputable graphic arts/photography/fine arts magazine (whatever) to fit the criteria. See: Wikipedia:Notability. Ll1324 (talk) 00:40, 15 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
