Re-write 2013
This article is overdue for a substantive re-write and expansion. I will be working on this with the following proposed structure:
- I. Definition and usage
- II. Management of Commons
- a. Resource-specific examples
- III. Implications

After re-write, I decided not to conclude with an "Implications" section as those are discussed in the various resource sections. Article re-assessed to B class. Meclee (talk) 17:41, 4 July 2013 (UTC)

Added a referenced definition below the existing article which introduces some conflict thus still needs a rewrite, but I am new to contributing so not confident to completely rewrite the article. Format of my reference may also need attention. kurihari (talk) 08:43, 22 May 2009 (UTC)
Internet as Global Commons?
In Definition and Usage, it is claimed that
"Today, the Internet, World Wide Web and resulting cyberspace are often referred to as global commons.[7]" (Source: Raymond, Mark (2012). "The Internet as a Global Commons?" Governing the Internet: Chaos, Control or Consensus? The Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI).)
However, the article clearly states that the Internet is NOT a global commons: "The Internet is easily mistaken for a commons because it has historically been an extremely open club with incredibly sparse rules for its members." and "Accordingly, the Internet is best understood as a set of nested clubs." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.243.171.94 (talk) 18:23, 5 December 2013 (UTC)
