The Glastonbury Festival line-ups page is becoming far too complicated and messy and I believe this is a solution to the problem. I wrote some of it I should know.

So I object to the page being deleted on those grounds, see discussion on that page (Glastonbury Festival line-ups) for more details.

Rumours?

I'm pretty sure that stating rumours falls foul of WP:CRYSTAL.Paulbrock (talk) 22:01, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

I very much agree. I'm also unsure of what 'strong rumour' and 'rumour' actually mean. Also, every artist listed in followed by an extrenal link in the body of the text. I recommend deleting the whole section. Blackmetalbaz (talk) 00:19, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Not only that but some of the links are infact incorrect. For example the Tom Waits (at Qmagazine) provides no information on Tom Waits playing at all, and is infact a wish list... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.33.116.130 (talk) 21:07, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Sources needed

Jay-z Contraversy

Michael Eavis said he didnt think that the drop in ticket sales was because of having Jay-z, a hip hop "artist" that caused the event to fail to sell out in 2008, though there was a survey of people who have gone to Glastonbury festival in the last five years, and people who applied for tickets in 2007 but were unsuccessful, the overwhealming response (about 85%) said that they werent going this year because Jay-z was headlining and that hip-hop "music" wasn't what Glastonbury was all about. Hip-hop "music" shouldnt be at glansonbury, it's not even music, just noise made by black people. Oasis are a far better band, people are still listening to Oasis's music in 20-30 years, some of it has been around for 15 years and is still loved by many, Jay-z will just be one of those artists which will die into insignificance in a few years. 81.149.82.243 (talk) 15:46, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Having Jay-Z headline Glastonbury was a huge controversy, and should definately be mentionned. Pretty much everyone was surprised/unhappy that a hip hop artist was headlining, most notably Oasis (in response, Jay-Z opened his set with a mocking version of Wonderwall). I think the inclusion of Dizzee may have been less notable since he wasn't headlining, and also that he's British (hip hop I'm pretty sure is seen as ugly and American). Personal note, if Oasis wants to complain about Jay-Z, then maybe they could make an album that comes close (in critical response and in sales) to anything Jay-Z has made in the past 10 years, instead of riding on the coattails of two great mid-90s albums. I just created the Jay-Z Controversy section:

It was controversially announced on February 2, 2008 that Jay-Z would headline Glastonbury Festival in 2008, becoming the first major hip-hop artist to headline the British festival. He was blamed by some for relatively slow ticket sales for the festival , although a more likely cause is the preceding run of terrible weather and flooding that in 2007 made life at the festival very difficult One of the more outspoken critics of his selection was Noel Gallagher of Oasis fame. In response to Gallagher's criticism, Jay-Z opened his Glastonbury set with a tongue-in-cheek cover of Oasis's iconic song Wonderwall. His Glastonbury performance was heralded as a successful response to pre-festival criticism.

Final tickets sales and success

I've seen a report that Eavis says the tickets did sell out on the final day, and also that due to lower clean-up costs this has been one of the most successful Glastonburys ever. Any references for these? Fig (talk) 11:08, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Weather

What on earth does this in the "Weather" section mean?

Despite this the weather took an odd turn on the Saturday morning when flyers for the Wiltshire music festival Moonfest were fired from a corner of the festival around Shangri-La.
