editthe problem with the "two second" rule is that few drivers know about it and even fewer follow it. Gipps model is based on the assumption that drivers are rational and will therefore behave safely esp following at a safe distance. Simple observation of real-world conditions will quickly tell you that these assumptions are wrong! people in general drive very unsafely, it is a wonder that we do not have more collisions. none-the-less, his model is still useful for road capacity analysis.
Section 3 in the article ends with "An example of a time-space diagram based on Wilson's unstable flow experiment using Gipps' is shown below:" but no example follows. Did we forget something?Ps1946 (talk) 21:45, 5 July 2012 (UTC)
