Plural should redirect to the singular. The way, the truth, and the light 01:18, 29 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

The other target, Gays, Illinois, is not even on the disambiguation page. Perhaps it should be added? The way, the truth, and the light 16:56, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
It used to be there, and Gays (disambiguation) points to Gay (disambiguation). I've added it back. As far as this redirect goes, please don't misunderstand. I don't think that targeting it to Gay (disambiguation) is a great choice. I think it's a lousy compromise that happens to be better than the other alternatives. There was a previous discussion at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2006 October 8 that decided on this alternative, and while I don't claim that RfD can enforce editorial decisions like that in the long term, I happen to think that it's the right way to do things.
More importantly, while I don't endorse the guy who keeps pointing the redirect to Gays, Illinois, he happens (despite the disruptive behavior on his part) to be right on one narrow semantic point: there is one meaning of "Gays" where the final "s" matters and is not a matter of simple pluralization. Consequently, we need to make certain that people can find that article when they do a naive search for it. That's the main reason I prefer the disambiguation page as a target. Any change needs to preserve the accessibility of the city page. Gavia immer (talk) 20:38, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Further note: I've fixed all the article space links to this term to link to Gay instead (they all were for that sense of the term). Regardless of how anyone feels about this link, they will at least not be scrambled by any future changes to this page. Gavia immer (talk) 20:43, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
