Slight Plot Clarifications & Grammatical Edits

I just made a huge edit, so I should probably make a huge explanation here in case anyone's wondering about the reasons behind the changes.

- I deleted the explanation for Ribon since people can just go to the Ribon article if they don't know what it is.

- I tried to clean up the Story blurb for grammatical errors and minor plot details. (For instance, the reason Mitsuki makes a pact with Takuto is not because she isn't old enough. That happens after Takuto initially decides to help her.) There's other miscellaneous plot errors and the writing in general was really rough, so I tried to make it sound more polished while correcting the plot errors. (To the previous author's credit, the plot errors were very minor, but it doesn't hurt to be more accurate!)

- Should the Story blurb be a simple summary or a detailed plot synopsis from beginning to end? I actually wanted to delete the entire paragraph about Mitsuki & Eichi's promise, since I don't think a summary is the place for that, but it is an important part of the story that should go somewhere, if not in the Story section. So I decided to just leave it alone for now, but it looks out of place there. Perhaps there should be a section called "Summary" and then a much more detailed "Story" section...

- I took out Takuto & Meroko's team name (Negi Ramen) in the story blurb because it wasn't really important for the story synopsis. I was too lazy to re-add it to their character sections, but it's something I'd like to get to later. I think it would be pertinent to explain the shinigami teams and team names in a different section within this article...I just don't think the Story section is the right place for small details like that.

- Edited Eichi's character blurb because it made it seem like he left Mitsuki simply because she no longer loved him, which is both untrue and cheapens his character. The reasons for his leaving are much more complex. Mitsuki explicitly says that she loves both Takuto and Eichi equally. But since both she and Takuto are alive, and she has chosen to live, she will be with Takuto. Eichi leaves because he realizes Mitsuki no longer needs him near her, because she now has the will to live and move on without him.

- A very slight edit to Hikari's character blurb. I think Takuto's coma situation should be kept to his section. Also, that sentence about his coma was written with incredibly bad grammar. (I probably made tons of grammar errors myself, but I think I managed to make it a little better.) I decided to use the quote Hikari used in describing her situation with Takuto because it keeps the ambiguity of the manga intact.

- Slight edit to Meroko. Saying that she thinks "Mitsuki will MAKE Takuto recover his memories" is slightly inaccurate. It's more like, "being around Mitsuki will make him remember" Also, this sentence was kind of a run-on, so I made it sound a little smoother in addition to correcting the very minor plot point.

- Slight edit to Izumi's blurb. I explained why it was weird that he works in the pediatrics ward even though he's such a surly character, and fixed the grammar as well. I think eventually this little fact about the workings of the shinigami society (that usually cheerful people work in the pediatrics ward, etc) should be put in a different section from specific character blurbs, but for now, since the only reason that fact was mentioned was because they were talking about how weird it was for Izumi to be in pediatrics, I left it there.

- Also, about Izumi's mother- the only thing we learn is that she thinks Izumi looks an awful lot like his father. I don't think the Wikipedia article needs to explicitly infer that "she thought she was scolding his father" because that is something for the reader to infer. (father left her + izumi looks like father + she's gone insane and is beating him = she probably is venting her frustrations at his father on him)

The article is far from complete, and could still use a lot more cleanup and reorganizing, but I am le tired. I'd like to add a synopsis of all the manga chapters (much like you can add a synopsis of all the anime episodes...) but that's for another day as well. Qptea (talk) 10:09, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

Title Translation Clarification

Shouldn't "Full Moon wo Sagashite" translate to "Look for the Full Moon" and not "LookING"? (I would think LookING would be "SagashiteRU" Since -te is used for commands...and after finishing reading the manga, I think the more appropriate translation would be "Look for the Full Moon". I've decided to change it, but it can be changed back if people feel strongly the other way. Qptea (talk) 08:42, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

Izumi

I just wanted to point out that, at least to me, the part in his character slot says 'he appears later in the series' makes it seem like it's past the halfway point. It may be pertinent to point out that in the manga, he appeared in volume 1. As a matter of fact, I believe in chapter 4-5. Not 'later' at all. That, in my opinion, needs to be changed, at least in wording. I will do so, but if you disagree with me, change it back. T.z0n3 04:36, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

You're correct about the manga; in the anime, however, he appears in Episode 29, after more than half of the series is over. So I think the wording should probably stay the way it is. Raven23 14:50, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
If that's the only things it's about, then why not at least add a sentence about his early appearance in the manga? I've only seen part of the anime, but after reading this, in the manga, I assumed I wouldn't see him for a while. I can understand that if I was wrong that it should be changed back, but using your reasoning, I still say you are wrong. This article is about 'Full Moon' as a whole, not about the anime only. If the above is true, then I think that we should at least add a sentence over it. I'm sorry for being so asenine about this, but that really rankles my feathers. T.z0n3 20:11, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
I don't know what "asenine" means. But, anyway. Technically, Chapter Five could be considered "later" if we were in the mood for stretching words out until they wouldn't stretch anymore. But if you really want to change it, go right ahead. Raven23 06:01, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

Highest rated?

It says at the top that "Full Moon is one of the highest rated anime of all time". Just wanted to know by who? Kelvinhole 13:29, 11 August 2005 (UTC)

I happened on Animenfo a few days ago, and Full Moon wo Sagashite held fifth place in the user rankings. However, I don't really know which recognised organisations have rated this anime. I guess we'll have to track down the original author of this article? ^.~ --Lapin rossignol 09:46, 1 December 2005 (UTC)

Full moon is often highely rated by viewers. However this likely refers to the decent length period where on animenfo it was number 1 of all anime. It likely can be worded better.--Kinglink 17:38, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

Title of Series, Clarification

This is mostly a question of "Full Moon o Sagashite" versus "Full Moon wo Sagashite". Which would technically be more correct? The "O" hiragana is used, but, as a particle, isn't that commonly pronounced "wo" anyway? AngelusInsomnus

Both "wo" and "o" are acceptable for that hiragana, but "o" is more commonly used. I believe the reason it is often "wo" for this series is because Arina Tanemura decided she wanted it to be "wo". Ender85 17:40, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
It would probably be a good idea to separate the manga and anime storylines, as well, since they differ dramatically in several areas.
I agree, particularly since this page is specifically called Full Moon (manga) -Squilibob 14:17, 7 December 2005 (UTC)
I don't really think the manga and anime stories need to be separate articles. I just think that the page should be renamed to "Full Moon o Sagashite" or something like that. Otherwise, it makes it sound like it only covers the manga, when it should cover the anime and the manga. Raven23 13:27, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
Well fullmoon is a great story (I mean It's about a girl dieing of throut cancer! and stuggleing to fufill her dreams as a singer) I've only seen the anime pics but I want to see the anime it self. I definately want animefans to read this book.--151.198.63.47 23:19, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
I agree also the anime's story is greatly different and worth telling, although the manga is better. It appears this is "Full moon wo Sagashite(manga)" So making the anime and then making the regular page be a disambiguitious page wouldn't hurt (that way you know which your getting and don't get spoilers)
The MoS for Japanese articles states that:

は, ヘ and を as particles are written wa, e, and o respectively.

-Squilibob 01:08, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

Separate character pages?

Should we make separate pages for each of the main characters? They do it on a bunch of the other anime/manga pages, so why not Full Moon? Raven23 13:33, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

I think it's too early to do it, since right now there is only a paragraph for each character, and no one appears to have put effort recently into completely revamping the page. I've wanted to do it myself, but I haven't had enough time to start and make it good. Separate character pages would be good if those articles can be of a healthy length, providing content of the character's role in both the anime and the manga and also have pictures. --Crisu 13:38, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
I think there's enough information there to do separate articles. We just have to dig some of it up. I think I'm going to try starting on a page for Mitsuki and see how it turns out. Is that okay? Raven23 13:33, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
Okay, I'll agree there's enough information for at least Mitsuki, because you have her and also Full Moon.. and you can throw in manga/anime differences. This could perhaps go for the Shinigami in the future, since they have detailed past lives in the manga, don't they? --Crisu 13:53, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
Definitely Mitsuki, because she's the protaganist and gets a lot of focus in both the anime and the manga. Takuto, Meroko, and Izumi will all have enough information as well, because the manga goes into a lot of detail on their pasts. Jonathan/Sheldan, Madoka, Eichi, Dr. Wakaoji, and Ms. Oshige...Um, those might take some work, but I still think it can be done. For most of the other characters, they'll probably need to be grouped into one article entitled "Minor characters in Full Moon" or something along those lines. Raven23 03:01, 8 September 2006 (UTC)
Oops, maybe I should have read the talk page before proposing this merge. but here goes anyway:

...I need some help...

You know those character pages that I'm supposed to be working on? I was wondering if anyone knew how to create one of those template things. You know, like they have on the character pages of other anime characters...because I don't know how to create a template, and I need it to complete the pages.

Something like
<div align="center">
{| class="wikitable" style="text-align: center;"
|style="background-color:#c0c0ff;" colspan="2"|[[Full Moon (manga)|Full Moon o Sagashite]] characters
|-
!Humans
!Shinigami
|-
| - Mitsuki - Eichi - Fuzuki - Madoka - Hikari -
| - Meroko - Takuto - Izumi - Jonathan - Mystere -
|-
|colspan="2"|List of minor Full Moon o Sagashite characters
|}
</div>
that would look like:
Full Moon o Sagashite characters
Humans Shinigami
- Mitsuki - Eichi - Fuzuki - Madoka - Hikari - - Meroko - Takuto - Izumi - Jonathan - Mystere -
List of minor Full Moon o Sagashite characters
You would put that on a page called Template:Full moon o sagashite and include it on each character page with the same name in double curly brackets:
{{Full moon o sagashite}}
--Squilibob 05:37, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

English Voice Actors

Has anyone out there purchased the Viz Full Moon DVDs? If you do, maybe you could add the English voice actors to the article? I would, but the DVDs are currently out of my reach. (Curse my parents' anti-Internet-ordering ways...) Raven23 14:19, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

Mitsuki - Kate Rowan
Eichi - Graden Gant
Takuto - Jeffrey Watson
Meroko - Leda Davies
Mitsuki's Grandmother Fuzuki - Maureen Jones
--Squilibob 05:37, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

the end...ing?

All i want to know is will this end good or bad? I know it is not wikiable just dont even tell me what im doing is illegeal i know just please tell me yes or no! thats all!--Takaomi I. Shimoi 17:55, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

(opinion) If you really must know, I think it's one of the best endings I've ever seen. As good as the ending to Gundam SEED or The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.HamHamDude 20:39, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

List of episodes

Where is the list of episodes (of the anime)? There's a list? -- *Luna* 13:20, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

At the moment, there isn't a list. I plan to make one sometime in the future. Once I get around to doing those character articles. Raven23 21:59, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

Edits to characters

Just a note of the corrections I made to the character section:

Under Full Moon, I added that in the final episode, she sings 'Love Chronicle' which was the third ending theme and the closing song of Full Moon's last concert.

Under Fuzuki, it said 'fiancee' which not only lacks the accent, but a double e is the feminine.

For Wakaouji, I explained when Takuto explained just after when Izumi tries to trick Mitsuki into jumping, he tells the doctor that he remembers the past and he was Route L's singer, and the agreement they made.

Under Madoka, it doesn't matter if two people audition with the same song. Eternal Snow was planned as Madoka's debut single. Madoka's plan was that this way Full Moon wouldn't be able to sing the song at the same time, especially since they originally had the same producer. Since Mitsuki had her heart set on the song, she and Ooshige tried to get another producer. Eventually, under certain conditions, Wakaouji agrees to the job.

Also, in the anime, in one episode showing herself as a young child actress, she is shown to go through a lot before the anime began. Full Moon, on the other hand, rose to stardom with relatively little effort. Sam 18:49, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

Page title

Can we not put this page as Full Moon o Sagashite? Since, you know, that's the actual title? It doesn't make sense that the actual title be a redirect page. Raven23 21:17, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

I've added "also known as "Full Moon wo Sagashite" and" in the first sentence of the page. That should be enough. HamHamDude 20:43, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
That doesn't answer my question, though. I fail to see why the title of the manga can't be used as the title of the page. Raven23 02:30, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

Page template

This is the tentative template that I'm planning for the Full Moon pages. (Yes, I'm working on them! It's harder than you think!) If anyone feels that anything should be added to or removed from this template, please let me know. Raven23 21:44, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

At first it looks like a character template, but then you add an "other" section. Perhaps, start off with the "other" section on top, but don't label it as "other". Below, add in a broader "Characters", with "Humans" and "Shinigami" as sub-sections, perhaps divided vertically.
Also, regarding the name order, it may be more fluent to switch Fuzuki and Eichi, and switch Keiichi and Madoka. Then, the grouping will be (Kouyama Family)(Eichi)(Working People)(Rival)HamHamDude 21:04, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
I don't quite know how to do what you were suggesting. I'm really not very good with templates. But, yeah, I made a few edits, including your suggested name ordering. Raven23 14:01, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

OVA

I found a torrent for a nine-minute OVA at http://a.scarywater.net/afk/. I added in the OVA infobox and a section under "Songs in the anime", but I couldn't say for sure that the OVA was directed and produced by the same people as the series. If someone here knows how to read the Japanese credits at the end, please fill in the blanks.HamHamDude 20:48, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Sheldon

Sheldon is mentioned throughout the article, but doesn't have his own character section.... Why? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Animelove (talkcontribs) 03:18, 2 May 2007 (UTC).

In the manga, Sheldon and Jonathan are the same person. Did you look at the Jonathan section? Raven23 13:52, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

Change page title to "Full Moon o Sagashite"?

I plan to change the title of the page to "Full Moon o Sagashite" sometime in the future. If anyone has any thoughts on or oppositions to this, please say so now. Raven23 21:44, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

I agree that the page should be moved to "Full Moon o Sagashite". This is the official title in North America, since Viz has labeled it as such on the manga and DVD's of the anime. --EmperorBrandon 17:14, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

Page moved to "Full Moon o Sagashite

Well, no one raised any objections, so I've moved the page to "Full Moon o Sagashite." "Full Moon (manga)" and "Full Moon wo Sagashite" will redirect back to this page. Raven23 13:05, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Characters cleanup

The characters section had gotten out of control, so I have cleaned up a good portion of it. I have removed unnecessary spoilers and long paragraphs about the plot of specific episodes and manga chapters. The character sections are now rather short and need to be rebuilt. Remember that this is an encyclopedia and we should be providing info on the character's past and the character's personality. Before I cleaned it up, it was very descriptive, but this is not the place for unorganized rants about a character and every episode/chapter they were in. It is also not necessary to not to include all information about a characters development (i.e. not every spoiler should be in the character's description). I think that kind of information would be appropriate only if it were in a page devoted only to that character, with appropriate spoiler tags.Ender85 02:59, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

My edits have been removed, and I have no real desire to have an edit war over this, so I'll leave it as is. But really, in my opinion it just makes the article look unprofessional.Ender85 04:37, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
I've done a round of edits for compression and cleanup, as part of tidying the place up. Next is probably converting that reviews table into prose, and adding reviews of the manga. —Quasirandom (talk) 19:58, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

Images

Two things:

  • 1) The image in the infobox should be a cover of the manga (preferably Japanese, but doesn't have to be, though Amazon.co.jp would be a good source) because that is the original version and the nominal focus of the article.
  • B) The characater thumbnails are overlarge, overmany, and seem to be choosen as the busiest possible image. Man, it's painful to scan down that list. Surely there's some cleaner color portraits available from the manga. Also, we should probably reduce the number to the key five or six characters.

I'll try and poke at these as I work on cleaning things up, but I'm not the best hand at image management, so if someone stepped in here I'd be quite appreciative. —Quasirandom (talk) 17:13, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Agreed on 1. Japanese manga cover would be best, if obtainable, else the english one. I can add that in a bit if you want. For 2, I had tagged the for having too many non-free, but the tag wasn't showing up. Just fixed that. AnmaFinotera (talk) 17:32, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
Amazon.jp, alas, seems to just have a thumbnail of the cover only. English cover from Amazon it'll have to be, unless someone tracks down a different bookseller. —Quasirandom (talk) 18:40, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
I've uploaded the English cover of the manga and removed the other image (which I suspect is a bootleg DVD cover *sigh*). I also went ahead and took care of the other non-free images. AnmaFinotera (talk) 07:28, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
Bootleg? Oh great. Based on which release, I wonder? --- Not that it matters. I wonder if we can find an anime screen shot with multiple cast members. Won't be the manga, but will be prettier, and the character designs didn't change much. —Quasirandom (talk) 18:24, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
Not sure, but the cover was snagged from one of the original release covers, modified some. Blech. For the characters, good question. I know there are several with at last Mitsuki, Takuto, and Meroko, and probably Ooshige and the doc as well...but they are in the episodes lovely Viz may not bother releases *kicks them for a box set gosh darnit* *ahem* Other than that, we may have to settle for just the three-some, which should have plenty of together shots throughout the first half of the show. AnmaFinotera (talk) 18:56, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
I thought Viz was back on track with releasing the DVDs? Or did they go back on hiatus at the end of the year? I suspect also we should get Mitsuki-as-Full Moon, to show how she's different -- dunno if there are any in the anime, but the manga has a couple pictures with her in both forms at once. Um, as splash pages obviously -- just like Ranma sometimes appears in both forms on covers. —Quasirandom (talk) 21:07, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
Not sure on Viz...I haven't seen any solicitations yet for the next volume and they usually announce early. If it were on schedule, I think 8 would be due in March?
I seem to remember one scene from the anime where Mitsuki was looking at herself as Full Moon and wondering who people loved, but not sure if it was all in one frame. If so, it might be a cool one to use. If not, I think a manga one would be fine or we can see if there are any promo images we could use. BTW, do you think we should break the characters out into a list of? AnmaFinotera (talk) 00:01, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
I'll look through the manga again, um, sometime soon I hope. *adds a note to the research list* For the character list, I think I'd like to finish cleaning it up (and Reception and Music) and seeing how much we have, compared to the rest of the article. It's likely to be a reasonable thing to do, but I have a better feel for balance when it's all in one place. —Quasirandom (talk) 07:01, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
Probably right. I'm about due for a reread of the series, so I'll keep and eye out and try to add in the summaries at the same time. :) AnmaFinotera (talk) 07:08, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
If you get to it before me, go for it. BTW, do you think we have at least a minimal number of references we can remove that tag? More will appear perforce when I add more reviews (especially manga reviews). —Quasirandom (talk) 17:30, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
Should be good for now. I've removed it. Hopefully I can also find some time to replace the reception section with prose relatively soon. AnmaFinotera (talk) 17:39, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

(outdenting) One other cleanup issue -- could you check the names against the spellings used in the licensed manga? The character list uses alternate forms willynilly right now. —Quasirandom (talk) 16:40, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

Sure, I'll give them a check tonight (and I noticed that too...we got stuff all over they place there). AnmaFinotera (talk) 17:58, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
BTW, speaking of the Reception section, in addition to the review of the DVD v1, ANN has two other reviews of the anime: a preview of the whole series and a brief notice of vol 2. —Quasirandom (talk) 20:16, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
Yep...there should be some good reception stuff available, at least for the US, since its still being released (hope/pray). I'll also look for some manga reviews. I'll also check the anime encyclopedias I have on hand, but I think its too new to be in there. AnmaFinotera (talk) 22:38, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
Yanno, aside from the table in the Reception section, we don't have much more to clean up. The Development needs more work and material, and the Characters could use more character and less plot, and there's more to add, but we've scrubbed most of the, well, dirt out. —Quasirandom (talk) 05:22, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
Yep, detagged. :) Thanks for tackling that...I've been so busy of late, I'm getting pulled in too many directions AnmaFinotera (talk) 05:39, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Original research?

AnmaFinotera: Since you tagged the article, could you amplify on which parts you are identified as original research? So that editors can focus on sourcing those. Always helps to have a target, either identified or specifically tagged. —Quasirandom (talk) 17:16, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

I think you already sourced all the parts I had questions about, or did individual tagging, so the OR tag can come off. :) AnmaFinotera (talk) 17:29, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
Hah. Right - on to building up the manga volumes list. —Quasirandom (talk) 18:42, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
Hey...Viz left the original kanji names of the chapters in the manga volumes, but I have no idea how to type those in. Any ideas? :P AnmaFinotera (talk) 02:49, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
That's beyond me. I'd ask for help at the Japan wikiproject. —Quasirandom (talk) 20:08, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

Interview with Tanemura

ANN has an interview with Tanemura that has useful information about the background of the series. Putting the link here to not lose it, and in case someone else *cough* can make use of it before I do. —Quasirandom (talk) 20:10, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

LOL, I'll see if I can get to it. I've been enjoying the edit summaries on your cleaning up *grin* AnmaFinotera (talk) 22:34, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
When you work in small chunks by nature, identical summaries get boring. I've used the interview as the source for Mitsuki's hairstyle, so the reference can be reused. —Quasirandom (talk) 22:55, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
Ummm guys I think you are making people change your work and I like it so much about it so I am happy with it and can I help out with it thanks =) -User:CustomCustom (User talk:CustomCustom)13:36,21 April,2010

Mitsuki's design

One of the sentences marked for citation says that Mitsuki was modeled after one of Tanemura's assistants — she was. In the Full Moon wo Sagashite glossary at the end of vol. 7, Tanemura notes that Mitsuki was modeled after Airi Teito. Justicebullet (talk) 21:54, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Cool. I've put in a preliminary bibliographic citation for that -- don't suppose you can cite the other bits without footnotes? —Quasirandom (talk) 23:16, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
I fixed up the citation (it was in the first volume that she really talks about Mitsuki's design). I've checked the first three volumes, and haven't found the part about Jonathan yet. AnmaFinotera (talk) 00:14, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
You rock. —Quasirandom (talk) 01:05, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
Thanks :) I found a reference for the art book and added a section for it, along with Viz's planned release. AnmaFinotera (talk) 01:25, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
Yay Viz. I may get that. —Quasirandom (talk) 01:33, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
