Deletion proposal edit

Fresh direct is a major food service provider in new york. Don't delete the article. It links and is linked to in many articles. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.150.105.9 (talkcontribs)

Yes, this really is a pretty major company in New York -- if you lived here, you'd know it. -- W7KyzmJt See Hear Speak 03:51, 15 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

That is not the right standard to apply. See WP:CORP for Wikipedia's generally accepted standards of inclusion for companies. Mere existence of the company is not sufficient. Note also that this page was tagged for deletion because the content had become to much like advertising and not the neutral presentation of content expected of an encyclopedia article. If you feel strongly that this article is appropriate to the encyclopedia, you need to take an active role in maintaining the article. Rossami (talk) 14:55, 15 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
If you're saying it's not notable by WP:CORP, it's been covered by plenty of secondary sources, and I've added several to the External links section. As to advertising, I agree that it does read a little like an ad, but there's definitely good content in there, and while it may need to be revised, it doesn't need to be deleted. What kind of suggestions would you have for how to improve it? -- W7KyzmJt See Hear Speak 02:22, 16 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Postscript: I added a section header titled "Deletion proposal" for this section. This discussion was originally orphan text without a section header, which caused page layout issues. I didn't want to go rearranging the talk page, but adding a section header fixes the layout problem. I think this matter's been long closed (even if FreshDirect wasn't notable in 2007, it certainly is now), but I wanted to add a note explaining this edit. Fair use rationale for Image:Freshdirect.PNG edit

Image:Freshdirect.PNG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 08:37, 4 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Union campaign edit

Why was the stuff about the Union Campaign edited out? It's one of the biggest stories in the New York labor movement and addresses neutrality issues regarding the company. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.0.50.12 (talk) 04:06, 17 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

It was removed by an anonymous IP without a reason, so I'm treating it as vandalism. Before I noticed, though, Spopejoy added a new section about it, which is better anyway, so I'm leaving that. (Spopejoy also removed a lot of good content, though, so I restored that as well.) -- W7KyzmJt See Hear Speak 01:33, 1 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Morrisons and UK links edit

William Morrison supermarkets (UK) have bought 10% stake (early 2011), to help them learn how to do some delivery in the UK (Morrisons is the only major UK supermarket that doesn't do home delivery at present).

The see also links should potentially include Tesco.com (worlds largest home delivery grocer and #4 largest retailer overall), Ocado (UK home delivery only grocer, custom systems), and maybe the other UK home delivery grocers (Tesco, ASDA/Wallmart, J Sainsbury, Waitrose), maybe also Co-Op (who don't have online ordering but will deliver what you have self selected if you don't have your own car) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.105.60.169 (talk) 11:08, 4 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Extraneous external links edit

I removed several inappropriate external links per WP:ELNO. These could be used a sources referenced in the article but do not belong in the external links section:

  • "What we do" on FreshDirect.com
  • Schoenberger, Chana (2006-09-18). "Will Work With Food". Forbes. Retrieved 2007-03-15.
  • Moskin, Julia (2005-04-06). "Online Shopping Makes New York a Cardboard Jungle". The New York Times. Retrieved 2007-04-12.
  • Sella, Marshall (2004-12-20). "Arugula Made House Calls: Riding shotgun with a FreshDirect delivery commando". New York. Retrieved 2007-03-15.
  • Brady, Emily (2007-10-14). "Union Blues Amid the Gourmet Groceries". New York Times. Retrieved 2007-10-14.
  • Bernstein, Nina (2007-12-13). "Warehouse Workers Quit in Immigration Inquiry". New York Times. Retrieved 2007-12-13.

Please do not use the external links section to store links that might be useful some day but don't have a purpose in the article yet. About the only thing that belongs there is a link to the company's web site. Jojalozzo 01:46, 11 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
