Announcing separation of Frederick and Louis Upton

To better serve the two famous American entrepreneurs, I'll be separating the two into Frederick Upton & Louis Upton. EricAhlqvistScott (talk) 04:03, 5 December 2019 (UTC)

Separate pages have been created. After further studies it turns out Frederick Upton is not actually credited with founding Whirlpool and only joined the company a year after. Suggesting to delete this page. EricAhlqvistScott (talk) 10:36, 5 December 2019 (UTC)
  • Yeah, that was a nonstarter. Louis Upton is basically unsourced; you can't just drop that amount of text into mainspace and not provide independent references. Frederick Upton was not shown to stand on its own - all the refs on the page were either trivial mentions or related to the company (and as you note yourself above, he is very likely not notable enough for a separate article). I have redirected both to this page again. If you want to split this article into two separate ones, then each of them most be able to stand on its own feet; that does not appear to be the case right now. --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 02:42, 6 December 2019 (UTC)
Fair enough. Will source and provide proper citations EricAhlqvistScott (talk) 20:22, 6 December 2019 (UTC)
Louis Upton has been updated. What's the next move? EricAhlqvistScott (talk) 08:29, 15 December 2019 (UTC)
Nice work (and a lot of it, too) - thanks! At this point, I would redirect this article to Louis Upton. If Frederick does not appear to warrant an article of his own, I'd suggest making his name a redirect to Louis' article too, since a reasonable amount of information about him is given there. --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 00:46, 16 December 2019 (UTC)
Set it up that way, pending different approaches. --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 00:51, 16 December 2019 (UTC)
