Inital comments

• Comparing the text of the article with an online pdf document (Biographical Sketch, by June Schlueter (2015)), many parts of the first page of the document has been copied and pasted into the Francis March article, as indicated by Earwig's Copyvio Detector. See WP:COPYVIO for the reason why I have concerns about the level of copying that has occurred here.

The article needs to be edited so that any copied text is removed, or the text paraphrased into the editor's own words.

• There are a number of places in the article that lack any citations (now flagged up with a template). The article needs to be checked so that missing citations are put in.
• Some of the sections are very short, and some of the paragraphs contain a single sentence. See WP:PARAGRAPH regarding one-line paragraphs, which are normally avoided.
• All 9 of March's children are named; the sub-section career at Lafayette lists the 11 subjects he taught. These are examples of rather unnecessary details in the article (I could provide further examples).
• There are places where information is duplicated within the text, e.g.often turning down offers from larger universities as his published work and teaching style became more well-known and March worked at Lafayette College for more than fifty years, passing up opportunities at other institutions.
• There are examples of peacock terms throughout the article, which need to be removed (severe health issues, a distinguished scholar, had a strong impact, valuable support, a new outlook, highly recognized. their tremendous contributions and discoveries, world-renowned academic institutions, such prestigious accolades, etc.)
• More research needs to be done using other sources, to provide a broader coverage of the topic:

38 of the citations are provided by sources associated with a single academic institution. Other sources could be used, including this and this (which summaries the achievements of one of his sons).

• The article needs to be gone through to check for where links need to be added, e.g. for terms such as Greek classics (Ancient Greek literature) Latin (classics) (Latin literature); Shakespeare's plays; periodical publications (Periodical literature); phonetically (Phonetics); Lexicography, etc..

The article is close to be failed. All the issues identified so far need to be addressed before I conduct a more extensive review. I am placing the article on hold , to allow time for this to happen.
