I really don't see how conjugated proteins fit as a third type of protein next to globular and fibrous proteins.

Globular proteins have a round shape and are soluble in water whereas fibrillar proteins have an elongated shape and are insoluble in water. Conjugated proteins don't make up a third class. The third class sometimes included in other wikipedia articles is membrane proteins (see globular protein and membrane protein) but no references are given. The inclusion of membrane proteins in this differenciation seems equally wrong. In any case I cannot seem to find a serious reference which makes this difference based on clear criteria (I know that it might seem logical to suppose that membrane proteins are less water soluble than globular proteins and more water soluble than scleroproteins but I haven't found any data to support that).

On the other hand Conjugated proteins are distinguished from simple proteins because they are bound to prosthetic groups. --Spicy.blackfish (talk) 08:48, 8 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
