Talk:Family Lives

Hi - I've recreated the Parentline Plus page, but I have no idea what was posted on it two years ago. Any accidental recreation of this is my fault, and if I should have done this in a different way, my mistake.

I've tried to follow the guidelines as best as possible, and looked at a number of other charity sites (like the NSPCC) to try and ensure it was consistent with Wikipedia guidelines and style.

If there are particular parts that do contravene the guidelines, please let me know and amend by deletion. Any advice welcome, as I'm very new to this. We are an official, national charity, just like the NSPCC and Wikipedia is a vital online resource for a lot of people, which is why I've created the page.

GW, To be included in Wikipedia Parentline Plus needs to meet Wikipedia's notability requirements. See: WP:N and WP:CORP for more information. Being a registered official charity isnt enough generally -- it would need to be a notable charity. It may also be worth looking over WP:COI if you have some connection to the charity. Thanks for the info MidgleyDJ - steep learning curve! There is so much on guidelines not just on the logistics, but on the etiquette as well. I've newly started work for this charity and was astonished not to find it on Wikipedia. Having read WP:COI I can see why that might be an issue so I won't do any further edits unless it is with agreement. I certainly don't want this to be an advert and if anything contravenes guidelines, let me know.

On notability, Parentline Plus are the biggest independent provider of parenting support in the UK, taking over 100,000 calls annually from parents who need support (over the last few years). The GotaTeenager site had over 30,000 hits in September, with a lot of funding coming through the governments http://www.everychildmatters.gov.uk/parents/parentknowhow/ initiative. I know it is an imprecise tool, but there are over 50,000 google hits for "parentline plus". If this does fall short on notability, I'm not sure how many of the other UK charities listed would qualify.

I'm still learning on this, so any advice on the best way forward is welcomed.

Based on the tags left on the article, I've tried to strip out anything that might be vaguely "peacock" like or seem like advertising, while still maintaining the key information. —Preceding unsigned comment added by GreenerWorld (talkcontribs) 14:35, 19 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Lots of the information on this page is now out of date as the charity is no longer called Parentline Plus. RVictoria (talk) 18:31, 22 August 2013 (UTC) RVictoriaReply

Can we get some solid, reliable third-party sources for these changes? Articles in the Grauniad or whatever, that kind of thing? --Orange Mike | Talk 19:54, 22 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
