Can anyone confirm that "chord factor" is a commonly used term for the elements of a chord? I have never heard the term and a search in New Grove for "chord factor" yields no results. I ask because in making my music21 software package I needed a name for these elements and couldn't find any generally used term in 7 music theory books. I ended up creating my own term of chord-step, so I'm curious about whether any more commonly used theory books have a term for this.
