First reading

I am minded to fail this nomination as I feel that the article is insufficiently broad in its scope. It deals almost exclusively with the controversy with Pasteur which occurred in 1859, when Pouchet was almost sixty. So what had he been doing in the rest of his scientific career? In the lead there is a single sentence "In 1847, Pouchet effectively launched the study of the physiology of cytology." The lead section should be a summary of the main body of the article, and this fact is not mentioned elsewhere in the text.

I will put the review on hold for a week to see whether anyone is available to make the improvements needed to raise it to GA standard. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 07:34, 14 June 2017 (UTC)
