Talk:Extended producer responsibility

Untitled edit

The article seems to stray from neutrality in its choice of words.

Some of the word choices in the article seem unnecessarily biasing. Such as "Extended producer responsibility (EPR) is a strategy" and "Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) uses political means" or "This tactic attempts..." even "The producer may also choose to delegate this responsibility to a third party, a so-called producer responsibility organization (PRO), which is paid by the producer for spent-product management."

While it is true that EPR uses these methods, EPR itself is not its methods. EPR is a concept wherein companies are held responsible past the point of sale (extended) and is based in the belief that companies are responsible for the entire life cycle of their products.

Also, the discussion of "consumer responsibility" and CO2 should be in a different section as it is not part of the definition of EPR. Rather, it is a criticism of EPR and perhaps should be in a "criticism" sub-section.

I agree that much of the language in this article is unnecessarily biased. I've begun to make some changes to improve the wording, but major reorganization may be necessary. --Efchambe (talk) 01:00, 6 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
