Justification for Edits

The World Congress of Ethnic Religions specifically states on their web site and in their offical policies, that they *are not* the same as pagan groups and that they have selective relations with pagans but make it clear that we are different organisations with different views and goals. Questions

• What exactly is an ethnic religion?
• The declaration speaks of "reborn ethnic religions", and also refers to "Europe and the other regions of the world". Is this essentially a polytheistic reconstructionism organisation?

notability

so, to be blunt, in spite of its impressive name this looks like an attempt at founding a neopagan umbrella organisation implemented in 1998 and all but forgotten since. any evidence that this organisation has any kind of notability?

more than six years later. still unclear if it is relevant. Membership seems to have dwindled from 20 to 11 organizations. But it's probably still the largest, if not the only, attempt to form a kind of European federation of ethnic neopaganism, so it's probably relevant within that topic. --dab (𒁳) 10:15, 20 May 2014 (UTC)

Atm, their cms seems to be broken and the membership list comes up only garbled [2] But they seem to have eleven members now. It is hard to say what happened with the rest, as neopagan groups tend to perpetaully splinter and rename themselves, so it isn't clear if a group has simply dissolved or actively left.

So it seems the trend is clearly one of growing Slavic and declining Germanic participation. The Italian changes may well be due to renaming and splintering, but the German groups seem to have actively left, Eldaring because of "ariosophy" concerns. This is probably about "Werkgroep Traditie", which was dabbling in ethnic nationalism (presumably the party active in liasing with Hindutva groups). The Germans are traditionally allergic to this sort of thing and will have left at the slightest hint that ethnic nationalism may be involved. "Werkgroep Hagal" seems to be a reincarnation of "Werkgroep Traditie" in a more "Germanic" and less "ariosophic/traditionalist" form. All of this are impressions based on googling around. To confirm Dbachmann suspects, as today on the german societies section there is the Armanen Order. So we can say that the association is not more reconstructionist as before, and more ethnic nationalism-oriented.
