Suggest rename

Should this article, its sub-articles and category be renamed to "European Athletics Championships"? The EAA's regulations list its formal title as "European Championships in Athletics"[1](PDF), but on their site they refer to the event more often as "European Athletics Championships" ([2], [3]). All reliable secondary sources and news media refer to the event as the European Athletics Championships, so per WP:NC(CN) this seems to be the preferable title. Well, at first i didn't think about it. I only updated information from latest statistics handbook with participants of the 2022 European Championships. But, in my opinion - if athlete's result has been annulled due to doping offences or other reasons, he nevertheless remains participant of this event. That's why I recently corrected Zoltán Kővágó's statistics with 7th participation. If you know about other multi-participants with similar cases, you can add them into this section as well. I don't think they should be included if the results were anulled. The statistics handbook does not include them either. Doping users are not eligible for records. If it's necessary to add such cases, a note should be added. Before the 2022 edition I made this edit based on the latest statistics handbook (removed Kovago and others). You are confusing things. Yes, if an athlete fails a doping test, then his/her result should be annuled and undoubtely it can't be recognized as a record, but this does not mean that he/she did not participated in the competition. The latest statistics handbook is little confusing and contains some mistakes. You can see at the article "Most appearances" (Page 54) - and they doesn't count participations at the Championships at which athlete failed doping test (for example, Kovago has 6 participations). However, you can see at "Athlete index" (Page 133) - and they counted all participations (see Page 237 - Kovago, Zoltan - 7 ECH). I also recommend you to look at IAAF's latest World Championships statistics handbook. See similar article "Most appearance" (Page 40). There is written - "Here are lists of all those athletes who have competed at six or more editions of the World Athletics Championships. Where an athlete had been personally doping-disqualified (see from page 87), the relevant year is struck through". So, I think the better solution for this Wikiarticle is to count all participations, but to add asterix (*) with mentioning of doping violations. Hyperion82 (talk · contribs)

Major RfC on capitalization of all our articles

I thought this was a done deal back in this 2022 RFC but obviously not. A handful of editors did another rfc with no sports projects input at all. And it's being challenged because we just noticed it. This could affect almost every single tennis and Olympic article we have, and goodness know how many other sports. Some may have already been moved it you weren't watching the article. And not just the article titles will be affected but all the player bios that link to the articles. Sure the links would be piped to the right place if thousands of articles moved, but if the wording in a bio still said 2023 Wimbledon Championships – Men's singles or Swimming at the 2020 Summer Olympics – Men's 200 metre backstroke that would likely need to be changed by hand. There is also talk of removing the ndash completely.

Perhaps this is what sports projects want and perhaps not. Either way I certainly don't want projects ill-informed as the last RfC was handled. Express your thoughts at the following rfc. Fyunck(click) (talk) 21:14, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
