As of now the 6th reference (UK Government registered very low cost Transpact.com) is pretty obviously spam. Being new here I thought I'd drop it in the Talk page for advice on how to proceed correctly instead of just deleting it, i.e. is there anything else to do?

I've gone ahead and removed it now.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2010/jul/21/households-warned-rogue-doorstep-traders is a link to a national newspaper which mentions the service, if people would be more comfortable with that than with a direct link. Dan88888 (talk) 15:32, 18 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Merges suggested

edit

Suggested merge of articles Escrow payment and Escrow instructions into this article Escrow of October 2009. These three articles are all about Escrow, that is what it is for, in what context it is used, who can Escrow, and how it can be done. All these should be in one and same article about Escrow and Escrowing - but the merged article will also need improvement. The terms explained can not continue being defined in terms of itself as is now. There is some common confusion is about the company Escrow.com and iEscrow. These companies are important, but just two of many players in the Escrowing market. BenediktG (talk) 14:22, 18 October 2009

Hey, wait!

edit

In the very first sentence of this article, escrow is defined in terms of itself. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.105.104.87 (talk) 02:47, 6 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

I very much agree. This article is impossible to understand because it is defined using its own technical jargon throughout. rock8591 09:10, 10 January 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rock8591 (talkcontribs)

Example

edit

Here is an example of an escrow arrangement. A travel service company has a contract to supply cars to company A. The travel service company buys cars for the purpose taking loan from a bank for purchase of cars. The loan will be repaid by company A. This is an escrow arrangement between the bank, travel service company and company A.

From the above example we’ll get to know the Escrow contract is made for making happy to both parties who involves in these contract. A bank plays a vital role in these contract bank will provide a guarentee to both parties. It is a very advance procedure in which bank will make agree for their pertiquler contract to both parties

Jesus, someone needs to reword the ABOVE! haha 88.110.5.127 21:27, 22 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
I can't see how the above has anything to do with escrow. Sorry, but no, it's not an example of an escrow arrangement! Poweroid 16:04, 30 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

can we reword this?

"Software source code escrow agents hold source code in escrow in the event that the creator of the source code refuses or is unable to release the source code to the user of specialised software if that software no longer functions or in certain other events, or once the vendor company goes bankrupt, then client has the right to demand the source code."

Would someone reword it to make it clearer? Poweroid 15:29, 10 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • I'm really getting sick of Wikipedia's "definition" articles that only rocket scientists and attorneys can decipher. What ever happened to plain, understandable English? All articles should be written so that a six-year old can understand them and explain them to their three-year old brother. 21:00 31, October 2006 (UTC)
It's reworded now ;) Poweroid 15:48, 1 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Internet Escrow

edit

Since I've been editing the Internet escrow page, I decided to contribute to this page. Since Internet Escrow Fraud is rampant, I've also decided to include the names of the only legitimate online escrow sites based in the United States my research has turned up (Escrow.com and iEscrow). I feel this is consistent with the tone of the article as it is the same thing that was done with PhotoEscrow. Also, I linked back to the Internet Escrow page, as I think this it is something readers would appreciate more information about, as was done with Source code escrow.

example of escrow by ritesh bhusari

edit

example: An escrow account can be used in the sale of a house, for example. If there are conditions to the sale, such as the passing of an inspection, the buyer and seller may agree to use escrow. In this case, the buyer of the property will deposit the payment amount for the house in an escrow account held by a third party. This assures the seller - in the process of allowing the house to be inspected - that the buyer is capable of making payment. Once all of the conditions to the sale are satisfied, the escrow transfers the payment to the seller, and title is transferred to the buyer. By Ritesh T. There was a link to an article on reuters.com in the external links section titled "Escrow.com receives industry leading award" or something similar. I see no need for this link. 71.238.254.92 (talk) 03:23, 5 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Source code escrow

edit

Sorry I'm new to this editing/discussing Wikipedia thing so bear with me. In the section under Banking Escrow it also talks about source code escrow. Two suggestions:

1. this should be a separate section as it has nothing to do with banking - source code escrow is a common thing that major enterprise software users arrage to ensure continued support if the software vendor goes bankrupt or fails to provide support.

2. The statement "Normally you do not own or have any rights to the software (including source code) that you are accessing, under the terms of a regular SaaS or desktop software agreement" is flagged 'dubious/discuss'. This statement is basically correct but could be better worded. e.g. "Under most proprietary software licence agreements the user doesn't have access to the source code, and therefore relies on the vendor to provide support if there is an issue with the software. If the vendor goes bankrupt or is unable to provide support and a source code escroiw arrgamenent is in place, the user may access the code for the purposes of supporting its own use of software" — Preceding unsigned comment added by 57.70.27.233 (talk) 00:52, 14 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
