Lede edit

  1. Is it reasonably well written?
  • I am not sure that pastorates is a word. Not in international usage of the term ministry. Perhaps appointments might be a better choice of word.
Pastorate (plural pastorates) is a word, meaning "the office or period of office of a pastor" per Google or Webster's dictionary, but I've changed it as suggested so as not to confuse or perplex the average reader, as well as expanding the Lede a bit. —  JGHowes  talk 04:11, 19 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Early Years and Education edit

  1. Is it reasonably well written?
  • Well scribed. The reference to the A.B. degree does not tell the reader what degree or academic award this is.
  I've now spelled-out and wikilinked AB degree. —  JGHowes  talk 04:11, 19 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

As a Presbyterian minister edit

Pennsylvania churches edit

  1. Is it reasonably well written?
  • I am not sure of this usage of the word pastored . One serves as a minister, one minsters. Ordination to the Presbyterate is not served as pastored .
I've now wikilinked Ordination#Protestantism to clarify that in the Presbyterian church, ordination as "pastor" is one of the threefold orders of ministry. However, its use as a past-tense verb may be confusing, so I've reworded the article accordingly to only use "pastor" once, as a noun to avoid repetitiveness.  JGHowes  talk 04:11, 19 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • A well scribed article of an important Presbyterian minister in the life of the Presbyterian Church in the US.

Conclusion edit

  • Some language issues are raised. May we discuss?
  • The A.B. degree ?

@JGHowes: Your consideration of the abovementioned issues is requested. --Whiteguru (talk) 02:49, 19 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Many thanks for your review. I joined Riverside while Rev. Campbell was senior minister and he made a profound impression on me. I've replied above to the review and have made some article edits accordingly (see diffs since GA review). The DYK was submitted as a "New" article only, not as a (potential) GA.  JGHowes  talk 04:11, 19 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
@JGHowes:Many thanks for your edits, all of which are appropriate and accepted. (And thanks for reaching out to the average reader...) This is the only article where I have a personal connection to the Church mentioned therein. And yes, most certainly Rev. Campbell was an inspiring preacher and made a profound impression upon many, yourself included. You were lucky, then. --Whiteguru (talk) 04:46, 19 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
