Since this law was put into place. Many businesses have suffered a cost of this. many people have demanded that their wages be increased to be the same as people doing the same jobs. this applies to both men and women seeking equal pay.

This seems more anecdotal, in any case has no references and appears to lack in neutrality. Overall I think that pages on acts of parliament should be more neutral in their presentation. Cpnlsn88 18:30, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

This is, altogether, a rather biased article. The criticism of the Act's lack of protection for ethnic groups ought to point out, for example, that the Act did not cover that area, and the corresponding Act that does is... I do not know the law here, but it is clearly illegal to discriminate pay on the basis of race in the UK, but the criticism implies that it is not illegal.

Secondly, the article on union action in 1997 reads like a conspiracy theory. I'm hardly a fan of trades unions at the best of times, but to claim that they conspired against workers needs evidence rather than conjecture and implication. Wee Jimmy (talk) 14:47, 17 September 2010 (UTC)

Somebody posted a question into the article itself, here, requesting further clarification as to what constitutes a "material factor" under the act. I've removed it, of course, but if someone wants to answer... Aridd (talk) 13:33, 16 January 2013 (UTC)

National Joint Action Campaign Committee for Women's Equal Rights (NJACCWER)

It looks to me as though the the formation by women trade unionists and others of the National Joint Action Campaign Committee for Women's Equal Rights (NJACCWER)was also important in getting the Act in place. see <An Historical Introduction to the Campaign for Equal Pay by Mary Davis> <http://www.unionhistory.info/equalpay/roaddisplay.php?irn=820>
