Enlargement: Bangladesh edit
Bangladesh shouldn't be included in "Enlargement" because, as far as I can remember, the ASEAN Charter forbids any members from being accepted into the ASEAN organization who are not part of the geographical "South-East Asia" region, with the exception of Papua New Guinea and Timor-Leste, who have been observers and bidding for full membership with a lot of support before the drafting and implementing of the said constitution.
Even if Bangladesh is granted observer status, they will remain as such, an observer. Observers without any chance of getting full membership can not be considered "Enlargement". They're more of a "special guest". Besides, Bangladesh is closer to South Asia than to ASEAN. --- Laibcoms (talk | Contribs) 14:45, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
- I don't see a problem with including potential observers in the enlargement article. See the criteria section which states that observer status "should be granted only to potential members of ASEAN who satisfy the criteria set for ASEAN membership". Also Southeast Asia states that Bangladash is sometimes considered to be a part of southeast asia. Where would you suggest this info be moved to? TDL (talk) 19:13, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
- Agree with TDL. I'm sure ASEAN will be happy to play fast and loose with the definition of the "South-East Asia region" if they so desire, especially as there is no solid definition. CMD (talk) 19:33, 6 August 2012 (UTC)

The following section was removed:

Map Inconsistencies edit
Why does the map caption on this webpage not mention Fiji? But, the map on the "Accession of Papua New Guinea to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations" page does? It looks like Fiji is shaded yellow on both maps. And why do the maps on both pages not mention Sri Lanka or Pakistan? If it is because they are not potential candidates, then shouldn't they be listed in other states?
Other Countries edit
Why are Australia and New Zealand listed in the same section. Shouldn't there be in separate sections? And why doesn't the section mention Taiwan. There is lots of discussion of Taiwan's interest in the literature on the topic.
Add Colombia or not? edit
