Elasticity tensor is perfectly valid for non-linear materials

edit

The first sentence is misleading. The elasticity tensor can be defined as the second derivative of the stored energy function with respect to strain. This quantity is well defined for any twice differentiable stored/free energy function. It need not be quadratic in strain, i.e. the material need not be linear elastic. 2A00:20:C060:B9DE:CD1F:EF1F:7A43:2AE7 (talk) 06:27, 24 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
