editHi all I wanted to declare that I am a staffer at Dunedin Public Libraries and working on this page at the request of Library management to assist in creating a presence for the library.
We're celebrating our centenary this year and a page on Wikipedia seems like a good step to take during 2008.
Content from the DPL website that I put up is used with permission of DPL management.
I do welcome any help, suggestions, revisions to the page(s) I'm working on as I am only new at this and want to do right by the Wikipedia community. Cheers, Paul151 (talk) 01:48, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
- Have you seen Birkenhead Public Library? It is brilliant, and might give you ideas for this page. Kauri Gumdigger (talk) 05:13, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
Hi there - I have added some further info on the library centenary plus an updated library logo... could use some help to correctly link / code this image for copyright use etc.. thanks Paul151 (talk) —Preceding undated comment was added at 02:18, 2 October 2008 (UTC).
- Added fair use rationale (fur) and licence tag - these options appear by selecting "logo/organisation" at the initial "upload file" page. If there is some source info / url it wouldn't hurt to add it also. Is this logo a permanent change, because the previous logo file will probably be deleted shortly? Thanks XLerate... I think I figured out the correct way to add images when I added the centenary logo later on but do check me on that. The old image can go as it's a permanent change.. regards Paul151 (talk) 20:25, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
Another question - is it ok to start a page that has more details of our centenary events or is that too much like a promotional plug? I could create the page and add some further historical info at the start before listing what's planned perhaps. If ok to do so how do I create / link to this page? Paul151 (talk) 20:27, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
- Nothing to stop you creating it but it may get nominated for deletion based on WP:ADVERT and/or WP:NOTE. What's there already to me looks closer to "promoting an event" rather than good encyclopedia content ("A family activity that will take you all over the Library" for example). May want to consider either working on articles where WP:COI isn't an issue and/or focusing the promotion on the library website. XLerate (talk) 08:21, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Thanks have modded the contents a bit to reflect events now past plus added link to Facebook presence now established for the library Paul151 (talk) 02:22, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
