Tidbit

edit

Khan became the only Indian actor to have successfully shot a film sequence in Germany, a country that is infamous for denying requests of international film shoots. A production executive stated that "Unlike the US, UK and Thailand, it isn’t easy to obtain permission to shoot in Germany. The rules are very strict and in order to be eligible one needs to clear at least 47 points out of 60 [...] Shah Rukh Khan is so famous in Germany and that made a great difference to shoot Don 2 there". Sidhwani said, "We are the first Indian film which has managed to do that. There were certain pre-conditions that we were required to meet and we had to be very careful. Eventually they did open the doors for us. Once we were together on making the film, they proved to be extremely helpful." The tidbit about Don 2 being the first Bollywood film filmed in Germany is definitely not true. One counter example is "Aap Kaa Suroor -- The Moviee" from 2007, which was shot mainly in Germany. Lots of the scenes were taken in Stuttgart.

You are absolutely right but I don't see it being mentioned anywhere in the article that it is the "first film" to be shot there. X.One SOS 14:55, 13 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

.There is a minor spelling mistake in the box office section which says "nett" which should be actually "net".There is something about only autoconfirmed users capable of editing this page which prevented me from doing the change myself. Vivekananda De--tAlK 13:41, 24 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi! I think you guys should update the Box Office section as Taran Adarsh just shared updated actuals for Don 2's business up untill Tuesday.

  1. Don2 - India *actuals*: Fri 15.55 cr, Sat 15.32 cr, Sun 18.22 cr, Mon 8.85 cr, Tue 7.02 cr. Total: Rs 64.96 cr [incl Tamil + Telugu].

This is taken from Taran Adarsh's twitter page and there is no way this is not accurate as Taran Adarsh works in the trade and almost always reports accurate figures. Also we know now that there is something wrong with Box Office Indias figures as they are always lower than others. — Preceding unsignedcomment added by 109.124.145.30 (talk) 17:54, 28 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Real Name

edit

All this changing back and forth of the names, please.... Has anyone determined what the official name of the film really is? I suspect it is just Don 2 period. Look at the website: "don2thefilm", title "Don 2", and its content. Lots of "Don 2", but no "Chase", no "King", sometimes "Don 2 - A film by Faran Akhtar". I think those slogans are just tag lines, but not a part of the title. Can we change the article name to just Don 2? Comments please.BollyJeff || talk22:42, 29 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

I agree. A lot of confusion over "The chase continues" and "The King is back" has been lingering over the past few months. As the official site does not mention any such thing, there is no need for such a caption. Why don't we start a page move request? More opinions can be formally expressed. Removed unsupported claim that SRK is only third actor to film in Germany

edit

The article previously claimed SRK "joined Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt to become only the third actor able to obtain filming permission in Germany." The source given doesn't claim this; what it says is that "he also joins the likes of Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt"; that is, it is giving Cruise and Pitt as examples, it is not saying that they are the only actors who are in the same category. The source goes on to say "these are the only two major superstars who have managed to impress the German authorities when it comes to shooting an international film in their land." I'm not exactly sure what it means to say that these actors have "impressed" the German authorities, but it's quite clear that this sentence does not mean that these are the only two actors to have obtained permission to film in Germany. It's not surprising that the source doesn't say that, because it's obviously false: many foreign films are shot in Germany.

Please fix it. BollyJeff || talk13:40, 12 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

What is going on here ?

Now a Taran Adarsh tweet or whatever and the worst box-offfice site "bollywoodhungama.com" are being used by the wikipedia editors to give out the box-office collections on Don2 . God saves wiki now . Why do you guys want wiki to be a doomed site ? Please guys , it is a request to whoever is editing this page to take down these figures with immediate effect because taran/komal are not at all reliable ; furthermore they are frowned upon in trade circles. Please do the above OR i will have to bring in several editors here to take down these pathetic crude figures OR i will have to request a block for you guys . Thanks . I don't like these people's attitude, but here are some facts as I see them: We usually depend on Box Office India for these figures They are showing about 96 crores (71 India + ~25 crores rest of world) for first week earnings when looking at these sources:India, rest. Is there a good reason not to use these figures instead of someone's tweet? BollyJeff || talk 01:00, 3 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Yes , BollyJeff || talkI have the same problem with this editor Meryam90 (talk) who considers herself a God at wikipedia . This is height of ridiculous behaviour as i cannot even fathom how can anyone allow tweets of Taran-the worst trade expert of India and his pathetic site BH to be used for bo figures , that too on the info-box . When i delete the box-office gross based on a tweet ..lol .. she tries to harass me . Help . Thanks .Seeta mayya(talk) 01:07, 3 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

I am not defending anyone. And you do realize that BOI updates mostly Indian figures daily. Taran of BH updates but with international figures as well. Don 2 had a worldwide release and not just in India. And as far as I can see, I have not come across BOI's article on current figures (Intl. + Indian). Next thing I want to say is Don 2 is still running in theaters, the figures in the INFOBOX will keep changing, whether daily or weekly. The final figure may not come from BH but BOI, it's still early to say and making a issue about it now is not legit. Thanks sonataca — Preceding unsigned comment added bySonataca (talkcontribs) 01:19, 3 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Please have a look at BollyJeff || talkcomment above for LINKS TO the latest updates on BOI regarding Don2 . Why can't that editor be a bit sensible ? And u don't need to tell me where is the movie running . I can tell you the names of all countries where it is running . So , please enjoy your new-year and let me do the same . Thanks .Seeta mayya (talk) 01:26, 3 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Of course it will change; I think folks should not get so angry about this. Seeta should not attack Meryam, etc. However, since there is a precedent for using BOI for Bollywood film earnings, and I have provided links to their estimates of both India and overseas earnings, maybe we could go with that for now. What do you say? BollyJeff || talk 01:28, 3 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Jeff (may I call you Jeff?) I know but on Ra.One page and Rockstar page, I noticed that the final figure on the INFOBOX is not from BOI but from TOI and CNN-IBN. I do understand that BOI has been the primary source for most wikipedia Indian cinema pages but BH (strictly Taran and not Komal, Komal is from KOIMOI) has given the latest figures of the past weekend which unfortunately BOI hasn't YET. I hope BOI gives update on it soon so this discussion can come to an end. — Preceding unsigned comment added bySonataca (talkcontribs) 01:34, 3 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Ok, Seeta Mayya, you need to stop this. You're insutling a lot of people, like Sonataca and Meryam90. The infobox is supposed to include WORLDWIDE GROSS (not nett but gross worldwide). BOI has only been supplying us with Hindi figures and they have been estimating the Tamil and Telugu figures. They have not even bothered to give international data. Bollywood Hungama is considered a valid source and we will continue to use it because it provides WORLDWIDE DATA. I agree with Sonataca and Meryam90. Please don't abuse to use a condescending tone here. I warned you before about such behavior but now you're back to it again. It's a damn shame. You failed to read the part "tricky and sensitive issue like worldwide gross". You and I both know that there are several editors who are going to pounce at the slightest increase in the collections of an SRK film. Hence, I made the statement. ~*~AnkitBhatt~*~ 16:52, 21 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
I believe its a different issue when SRK fans indeed try to increase it, with reliable sources, as compared to when they pounce on it without a source barely to start a dispute or promote his projects. If there are only one or two figures showing up, all fine. But if not, we must continue doing what we have done in the past. So, there's nothing more to it to make it "tricky and sensitive". :) X.One SOS 14:16, 22 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
You misunderstood my statement; I was referring to the SRK haters who do not want the proper worldwide all-language figures to be posted. They want the lowest reported figures to be posted, even if from an unreliable source (a similar case happened with Ra.One). This matter can become highly controversial, long and nasty and hence it is tricky to tackle properly. The biggest problem is that the article has now gone into full protection, so there' no way of editing it now. ~*~AnkitBhatt~*~ 07:33, 24 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

thumb Hello. I am recently trying to put File:Don2poster.jpg in the article but Meryam90 is removing it. We can put the picture naming it as a alternative poster for that? Why are you removing it? Yes, give the alternative picture a chance, too.Dipankan In the woods? 11:13, 22 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Because this had happened before, 2 non free posters can not be in the same article. an other user tried and it got deleted anyway.--Meryam90 (talk) 15:37, 22 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Protected

edit

This article is suffering from a long-term war about the movie grosses. On 16 January it was placed under semiprotection, but that didn't solve the problem. After that a variety of registered accounts kept jumping in to change the numbers without getting consensus on the talk page. It is not practical to block everyone who keeps changing the numbers arbitrarily, so regrettably the article was put under full protection on 23 January.

It would be helpful if editors could agree here on the talk page as to what set of numbers is the correct one to use. Also, what images and reviews are appropriate for inclusion. You can use the{{editrequest}} template here on the Talk page to ask for changes while the article is protected. EdJohnston (talk) 14:46, 23 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

The Stardust Nominations are in, can someone add those? Here's the link to the nominations list and Don 2 is included:http://www.pinkvilla.com/entertainment/discussion/stardust-awards-2012-nominations — Preceding unsigned comment added byAshermadan (talkcontribs) 04:37, 25 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
Pinkvilla.com? What kind of a source is that? X.One SOS 12:19, 25 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
Haha, very funny. It's just a list of nominations provided by Stardust. You obviously aren't going to add it because of your bias. Forget it. — Precedingunsigned comment added by Ashermadan (talkcontribs) 13:06, 26 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
If you want something added to the protected article, write up the actual text that you want included first, and then use {{editrequest}}. Material will be added if either (a) it is uncontroversial, or (b) you can demonstrate that it has consensus. What exactly is pinkvilla.com and why should we consider their opinions important? EdJohnston (talk) 18:35, 25 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Ashermadan, there is no need to jump and start calling everybody biased. Here, everyone is working for facts and not personal opinions. If Don 2 deserves something, it will be put in the article rightfully. Stay calm and wait, so that editors can discuss things over. ~*~AnkitBhatt~*~ 15:03, 26 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

It's just a list of nominations. A list. What's there to discuss about a list? It's a screenshot of a list! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ashermadan (talkcontribs) 18:11, 27 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Well that's fine, let's just use the same source used by User:secret of success on ZNMD's page then: http://www.magnamags.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=8923

I'm afraid videos like this will not be reliable sources. Besides, as is the case with many SRK films, the box office reports are controversial; some editors want to put up proper figures, while haters want to put up the lowest figures. The final gross will be given in time. ~*~AnkitBhatt~*~ 14:51, 26 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Accolades

edit

This article needs update on the accolades section. The film won two filmfare awards for Best Action and Best Sound Design (which are not stated there) and it was nominated for Best Film, Best Director and Best Actor. - Torreslfchero(talk) 10:01, 1 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Missing songs?

edit

I saw two songs on YTube, one of which is mentioned in the 'Casting and filming' section, "Mujhko Pehchan Lo". I think the other was "Dushman Mera". I then saw the film, and the songs were not there. Am I seeing an incomplete version of the film? Were these song just used to peek interest and not intended to be part of the film, or were they deleted later? If this is not normal, it should be mentioned in the article, as I was quite suprised to not see them. BollyJeff || talk 13:49, 3 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

"Mujhko Pehchan Lo" a promotional song, it was filmed on SRK but not included in the film. "Dushman Mera" was the song of the end credits. some international versions didn't have it. U're not missing on anything from the movie :D--Meryam90 (talk) 18:24, 3 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
Okay then, is it normal to have promotional songs like that not included in the film? If not, please mention it in the article. BTW, there is some redundant language in that section too, but article is currently locked. BollyJeff|| talk 19:01, 3 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
Yes, for Bollywood, it is common to use promotional videos/songs, and I wish I could edit the article, there so many things to add and fix. ARG, some shit in life U just need to deal with. The article however will be unlocked by the 6 Feb...till then...--Meryam90 (talk) 19:07, 3 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Meryam has answered your question: "Mujhko Pehchanlo" was a promotional song (pretty obvious seeing the song picturization :D), while "Dushman Mera" was a credits song. I think "Mujhko Pehchanlo" did come in the film, but that was after "Dushman Mera" in the credits part. You are not seeing any incomplete version/international version; heck, there's only one true-blue song-and-dance sequence ("Zaraa Dil Ko Thaam Lo") and if you remove that the film remains pretty much the same. But I don't think its normal in Bollywood films to have promotional songs; as far as I'm concerned, I haven't seen any "promotional song" for any film till date. We should ideally mention that. If this article is getting unlocked tomorrow, then there's a ton of work to be done. The article is really backward in terms of content and needs urgent updates. Btw BollyJeff, how did you like Don 2? ~*~AnkitBhatt~*~ 06:15, 5 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Mathisha123 (talk) 14:59, 4 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Added to the article. It's just the Hindi Only version so we'll update the infobox when we have the tamil, telugu, german, etc. figures also. It's expected that Don 2 is around 235 crores right now with all those included. As soon as we have a reference we'll update it. Thanks for pointing this out.
