I think that a dippy egg is different from a fried egg... It should not re-direct to the fried egg page. A dippy egg is English. It is a soft boiled egg that is placed in a dish that holds it upright and the top is cut off. You then dip slices of toast or other food (often called "soldiers") into the soft yolk.
- Hmm, never thought I'd be discussing dippy eggs on Wikipedia, but yes, in the UK a dippy egg is a soft-boiled egg that you do indeed dip your "soldiers" in [1] - although it is a valid US term for eggs fried 'over easy' too.
