editthere is a problem with the image showing how to tie it, if followed then it is not correct. there is an extra looping of the working ends around the dead ends before the working ends are fed through the centre of the knot. see http://gilwellreunion.homestead.com/DiamondKnot.html for the proper method of tying. 76.64.69.73 02:16, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for pointing this out. Specifically step three of the diagram is incorrect. To put it in more standard terminology, each of the working ends needs to be passed over the other rope's standing part before being passed back up through the center of the carrick bend from below. --Dfred 14:08, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
- I replaced the images. --Dfred 21:04, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
Chinese button knot?
editI removed the image Image:Chinese button knot.jpg from the article for both its very poor quality and appearing to illustrate a single strand knot rather than the knot described in this article. ABOK lists the Chinese button (#599) as a single strand knot, which is not the subject knot of this article. I also removed this as an alt name for this article. IMO, a new article should be created for Chinese button knot. --Dfred 14:48, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
