Holocaust

I have reverted vandalism which deleted existing text on the Holocaust and Reichsbahn involvement, which has assumed much greater importance in recent times related to compensation claims from surviving victims. 109.152.115.234 (talk) 19:42, 18 July 2020 (UTC)

Please do not describe good faith edits as vandalism. The importance of the Reichsbahn in transporting victims of the Holocaust is well known and should be recorded. However, there is an entire article on that called Holocaust trains which is where the detail should go. This article is about the Reichsbahn in general and, while the Holocaust should be mentioned, the Reichsbahn was far wider than that, being the largest enterprise in the world at the time. Its far greater role was providing a vast logistic resource that underpinned the economic rise of Germany under Hitler as well as being vital to Germany's war machine. In addition it was at the forefront of contemporary railway engineering - its standardisation of locomotives from the seven state railways being just one example. Let's give the Holocaust due recognition, but in this article on the Reichsbahn it should not overshadow the main topic. Bermicourt (talk) 08:36, 19 July 2020 (UTC)
I have reverted the latest edits to the Holocaust section because it is rapidly becoming the largest and most detailed part of the article. The Reichsbahn was a vast organization whose history spanned nearly three decades and it had many important roles apart from the transport of Jews. Of course that was a significant role but the Holocaust was a chapter of the Second World not the war itself and to place UNDUE focus on it is to miss the importance of the Reichsbahn to the rise of Nazi Germany and its key role in the whole war effort of that dreadful regime. So to keep expanding the Holocaust to the point where it starts to dominate the article is unbalanced, especially when there is a separate article devoted to that important subject which is where the detail should go.
