Serial
editDoes anyone know the significance of the Hy.479 serial? It is not used in the few pre-war articles about the aircraft.TSRL (talk) 10:27, 7 June 2017 (UTC)
- After the fact, most references (of very few) refer to the aircraft as the Denhaut Hy.749.--Petebutt (talk) 10:53, 7 June 2017 (UTC)
- I was wondering if the Hy.479 was either a military serial or a c/n but have just seen a note in this Air Britain World Aviation (p.63) remarking that it was usual for French military aircraft to use the c/n as a serial. It is talking about some exceptions in the 1960s but it's possible the practice was established in or before the 1920s. It would be interesting to find one or two Denhaut seaplane c/ns, but that might not be easy.TSRL (talk) 19:48, 9 June 2017 (UTC)
