nothing right in this article all your references are wrong the origins of the libyans are : few arabs (pure arabs ):zintan , nwail .sihan ,some in worfla , and others around ,then you have about 60% berber origin not speaking tmazight but their origin is berber like : howara, znata ,then we have turkish berber people : kowarghlia , then the greeks ,spartans ,punic, and we have the jews who used to live here in libya and i have references if you like any one i guess the cover and burial of the libyan real identity is an organized crime to make libyans get lost and follow blindly to the hole of poorness and ill life but after feb 17th every thing changed libya is not arab libya is libyan containing people from all ancient and unique mix from all around libya is a great mix of all civilizations all over

West Africans are Sub-Saharan Africans so it was redundant to write West Africans and Sub-Saharan Africans

migration zero ?!

"Net migration rate: 0 migrant(s)/1,000 population (2000 est.)"

This has to be untrue. There are many many immigrants to Libya, weather legal or not, comming from the southern neighbours in search for work. Qyd 14:35, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

I think it's 0 because they dont have a data about it.

Only a few. But most of them have left now... 195.245.149.70 (talk) 13:35, 21 March 2011 (UTC)

Berber and Arab 97%?!!

I find that very vast and very unprecise, as the berber in Libya are about 9-10% percent of the Libyan population, so with a little math we would know that Arabs are about 87-88% of the Libyan population, that means Arabs are about 90-91% of that 97%, so this is not a small number that you can deny or even merge. Arabs in Libya are simply the overwhelming majority. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.208.82.36 (talk) 07:44, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

one should not overcome the fact that many Libyans claim blood-lineage to the tribes of Arabia "Saudi Arabia and Yemen", even more many Libyans share the same Bedouin lifestyle seen in those two countries, Arabized Berbers in Libya are well known and they are not denying their Berber bloodline, I can say as a Libyan that each racial identity in my country got a relative clearness when it comes about their ancestors, because the teachings of Islam forbids to claim a descent that you don't belong to. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.208.106.244 (talk) 11:34, 12 September 2011 (UTC)

Oh really? because the DNA studies on this page say otherwise. Most Libyans are not Arabs but indeed Arabized Berbers. Akmal94 (talk) 23:12, 17 July 2016 (UTC)

English

English is not widely understood?!! oh yeah?! so that was based on which study???! can we know please?

Until some type of citation is provided, I'm taking the widespread English statement out. Tom65.32.185.72 (talk) 18:13, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

No Jews in Libya?

So there are sources saying that there is not a single Jew known to inhabit Libya? O_O TheArchaeologist Say Herro 19:31, 27 February 2011 (UTC)

They left because of Muammar Khadafi's hostility. And because they don't want to live in a country led by one of the responsibles for the Munich killings. 195.245.149.70 (talk) 13:37, 21 March 2011 (UTC)

Any official censuses?

I'd be very surprised if no censuses had ever been carried out in Libya. My guess is that the Italians carried out at least one census during their colonial years (I know they performed at least one in Eritrea), & there has been at least since independence. But I'd like to see verification -- Libyan government sources would be the place to look -- & not this heavy reliance on CIA Factbook estimates. -- llywrch (talk) 14:47, 21 March 2011 (UTC)

Answering my own question, I've found references to Libyan censuses in 1964, 1973, 1984 & 2006, as well as one during Italian colonial times in 1939; I suspect there are many more. I'm disappointed that no one has used these to create comprehensive population tables for the individual urban centers & administrative units in this country. -- llywrch (talk) 15:22, 21 March 2011 (UTC)

References

In the article appear several figures of numbers that indicate how many Libyans living abroad. However, these figures have no references and I do not know where that information comes from. It should make referrals.--Isinbill (talk) 22:26, 4 April 2012 (UTC)

Proposed merger

I agree that the Demographics of Libya should be merged with Libyan people. To merge both into a single article about Libya may create too large an article. RuthLivingstone (talk) 23:45, 16 February 2013 (UTC)

GOCE

I have cleaned the article up, but many citations are still needed. I have not checked the accuracy of any statements or facts.

Libyan Notables (2015)

There is a list of 4 'Notable Libyans' at the start of the page, the inclusion of Qaddafi as one of them may be offensive to Libyans. For example Adolf Hitler is one of the most 'influential' Germans in history yet his picture is not featured on the "Germans" page as a notable German: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Germans . — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.250.255.14 (talk) 19:58, 5 November 2015 (UTC)

Is the page going to be a Pending changes protection?

--46.130.8.153 (talk) 16:20, 8 June 2016 (UTC) due to vandalism, it was going to be pending changes protection or possibly semi protected?
