The result of this discussion was: Merge "Decline of center-left parties" into "Pasokification". TucanHolmes (talk) 19:24, 27 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

The two articles appear to cover the same topic. I am not sure if the term "Pasokification" should be used vis-a-vis the more generic article title. Presidentman talk · contribs (Talkback) 18:13, 12 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

  • Support under Pasokification - They cover exactly the same topic, though I think the "Pasokification" article is far better written. It describes events that happened to specific parties in specific countries, while the latter article has issues with undue weight - while this phenomenon has occured in Israel, Greece and Italy, centre-left parties have since risen to power in places such as Spain, North Macedonia and Finland. I find the term "Pasokification" to be quite useful itself, having been used by RS[1][2][3][4] and it lends itself to be less unwieldy as an article title than "decline of center-left parties" - which is not only longer, but also implies that all center-left parties are declining, which they are not. For these reasons, I think that the latter article should be merged under "Pasokification". Best regards, Goodposts (talk) 12:57, 16 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Support under Decline of centre-left parties (supporting "centre" over "center" because that's how the main Wikipedia article is titled). Pasokification has become a sandbox of sorts for listing all centre-left parties who have seen a steep decline in support at some point in recent times, even if the term "Pasokification" itself cannot be sourced to refer to some of these specific situations. That the term has been used for some specific cases does not mean we can re-imagine it ourselves to cover situations where it isn't used. Decline of center-left parties is broader in scope and much more appropiate as a destination page. Impru20talk 12:18, 31 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Support unter Pasokification — The "decline of center-left parties" is too broad and unorganized, lumping together various declining centre-left parties with (in many cases) no connection to each other, whereas "Pasokification" describes a specific (and shared) phenomenon observed especially in European politics, relating to general demographic trends, a shift in many centre-left parties towards more right-wing economic policies, and a perceived abandonment of traditional centre-left politics. The Pasokification article is clear and sharp, whereas the centre-left article is a blurry mess. Merging them would decrease the quality of both articles. I would favour just deleting "decline of centre-left parties" and merging the content relevant to "Pasokification" into that article, since the overlap with "Pasokification" is that significant (the only two sections that cannot be easily contained in "Pasokification" are the ones about Israel and Sri Lanka). If there are no further objections, I will perform the merge soon. TucanHolmes (talk) 15:06, 24 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
