DLSU-CSB and DLS-CSB edit

This page is being considered to be moved to De La Salle - College of Saint Benilde. See DLSU's talkpage for the discussion. --Howard the Duck | talk, 10:17, 16 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

(The following discussion was taken from Talk:De La Salle Philippines)
Support as per Mithril tdd1, I'd also want to move De La Salle University - College of Saint Benilde to De La Salle - College of Saint Benilde. --Howard the Duck | talk, 08:43, 16 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
With regards to De La Salle - College of Saint Benilde, Akira123323 mentioned that the official university name has the full name of DLSU. However, the System and CSB's website refer to it without the "University" part. The words on the school logo was also changed to "De La Salle - College of Saint Benilde". I think it is the correct name today. --Mithril tdd1 10:00, 16 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
I'd be putting a notice on the CSB talk page on this discussion. --Howard the Duck | talk, 10:14, 16 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
With regards to whether it is DLSU-CSB or DLS-CSB, my aunt showed me my uncle's diploma from DLSU-CSB, which I think dates back to 2001-2002. I'm even presuming that both terms are interchangable, but I also remember seeing the sign at CSB specifically saying "De La Salle University-College of St. Benilde". --Akira123323 Say what? | Track record 17:27, 16 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
The last time I passed there, it was "De La Salle - College of Saint Benilde". Although I'd agree that they're interchangable, the website states "De La Salle - College of Saint Benilde", and someone researching on the topic maybe confused, especially if they don't have access to diplomas. --Howard the Duck | talk, 10:22, 17 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
I might consider asking some people about the naming controversy, but if St. Benilde really says they're "De La Salle - College of St. Benilde", how about we move it back to there and make DLSU-CSB a redirect? That would affirm the interchangability of the name. --Akira123323 Say what? | Track record 11:53, 17 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
That would do. I've read the reports of the DLS system presidents from 2000-2005. For 2000-2003, it was called DLSU-CSB while 2003 onwards it was changed to DLS-CSB. There's also a report regarding the replacement of the facade logo at CSB. I found no report regarding the name change so it might be interchangable or not. I'll try to gather info regarding this once i go to CSB. -- Mithril tdd1 13:36, 17 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
As of now its interchangable, although there's only one official name. DLSU-CSB can redirect to DLS-CSB. --Howard the Duck | talk, 14:41, 17 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Although there's still no consensus to move De La Salle University - College of Saint Benilde back to De La Salle - College of Saint Benilde, so lets maintain status quo on the proposed DLSU-CSB movement. --Howard the Duck | talk, 04:39, 19 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
About CSB again, a booklet that was handed out to freshmen indicates that officialy, there are only two ways to refer to the College: De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde or DLS-CSB. I guess that's enough reason to move the DLS-CSB article back to its original title. -- Mithril tdd1 10:45, 19 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
So is it De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, with the hyphen not having spaces (such as De La Salle - College of Saint Benilde? Lets wait for Akira first. --Howard the Duck | talk, 12:05, 19 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Yes. So far i haven't seen any official document with the hyphen having spaces. -- Mithril tdd1 12:19, 19 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
I've never seen a document where there are spaces at both sides of the hyphen between DLS-CSB. I always presume people write the full form of DLS-CSB (or DLSU-CSB) without the spaces, so omitting the spaces would be fine with me. --Akira123323 Say what? | Track record 17:16, 19 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
So is it OK for a sysop to move De La Salle University - College of Saint Benilde to De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde? --Howard the Duck | talk, 02:22, 20 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
I guess it's OK. After all, DLS-CSB is not a university. -- Mithril tdd1 03:25, 20 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
I assume so. It is a college in the first place. --Akira123323 Say what? | Track record 04:37, 20 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
So it's OK to move it now? -- Mithril tdd1 16:04, 21 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Yep. We'd just change the wikilinks later, since there would only be one movement. --Howard the Duck | talk, 17:12, 21 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Article moved. I'll work on the links next time. -- Mithril tdd1 18:27, 22 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

School colors edit

When I saw the CSB Blazers playing in the NCAA, their light colored uniform is white, and their dark colored uniform is black. --Howard the Duck 07:22, 14 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

I see, but the team colors usually don't mean it is the same with the school colors. Most school colors feature two colors, and for the Lasallian schools in the Philippines, it's green and white. -- Mithril tdd1 09:04, 14 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
But is it wrong to state that black is a color used by the CSB team in athletics? Mind you, other La Salle schools use different shades of green. --Howard the Duck 03:06, 15 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
The infobox states the school colors rather than the athletic colors used. The Blazers page however, already states that they are using black for their colors. -- Mithril tdd1 08:37, 15 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
And I thought athletics colors were derived or were exactly the same from school colors? A user maybe confused. --Howard the Duck 09:14, 15 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
I thought so too. But CSB's case seems different. The black might be a minor color only for the Blazers. -- Mithril tdd1 11:44, 15 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
But I've never ever saw the Blazers wearing green, it's always white and black, with green as a supplementary color. But it's always good to have a third color, right? hehehe (Actually, there's a story why they're prohibited from wearing green, but that's another discussion) --Howard the Duck 00:15, 16 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Okay, i've done some look-up on the colors and the black is indeed for the Blazers only, while CSB itself is green and white. So, will the black remain? -- Mithril tdd1 07:47, 16 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Perhaps we need a third opinion on the matter. --Howard the Duck 08:17, 16 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
In addition, I saw black jersey for the Blazers in the WNCAA. --Howard the Duck 23:47, 16 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Saint Benilde DYK edit

An entry from Saint Benilde's article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know? column. (2006-08-09) --Mithril Cloud 09:25, 9 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

1980 or 1988? edit

What? er when? --Howard the Duck 08:38, 10 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

1980 as the College of Career Development of De La Salle University-Manila. 1988 as the College of Saint Benilde as itself.
So it is 1988? --Howard the Duck 12:32, 11 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Yep. Mithril Cloud 02:45, 12 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

On the GA nom... edit

I don't have time to do a full review, but I think you might be able to get ahead of the game by changing the intro for your section on Academics, "The college recognizes the multi-dimensionality of human intelligence" seems like it could use a word or two of explanation of what that means, (In particular, its not worded with the title of the article in question in mind, I think many readers will be turned off by the word switching on such a complicated article title) and the rest seems to have a very favorable point of view in mind, "uses a learner-centered approach in teaching where classes are taught according to the student's understanding of the subject.[5]" sounds nice, except "learner-centered approach" is one of those things which defies simple definitions and reads sort of flowery, while "The college has five schools which offers relevant and innovative degree and non-degree programs...." means very little to me, what is "relevant" here, relevant to society? A global world wide economic system? Topeka, Kansas? With the use of "innovative" next to it, it gives me the impression that this was written with advertising of the school in mind. Before this article gets a real GA review, I think it would be helpful if anyone could maybe write the introduction to that section more plainly and less flowery. Homestarmy 02:40, 6 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the heads-up. While "learner-centered approach" may sound flowery, it is actually the centerpiece of the college, along with the "innovative degrees". I took out the "relevant" part instead since it is a leftover from the early revisions of the article, which was less neutral than the present revision. Anyway, I have expanded the definition of multiple intelligences and learner centered instruction. I hope it helps. --Mithril Cloud 08:17, 6 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Failed GA edit

This article has failed the GA noms due to an excess of bulleted lists. See Wikipedia:Embedded list for more info. Aslo it is suggested that this article undergo summary style o bring down the article length. Hope this helps. Tarret 21:21, 15 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Some lists are better off in their current forms, while one list is an indented list with content. As for the length, I believe that the long sections are not that long enough to have their own articles yet. As for the lists again, there are other GAs out there that have more bulleted lists than this one. I didn't expect this would be failed due to lists, I'm renominating this. --Mithril Cloud 03:39, 16 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

GA status edit

Passed GA review. For further improvement: put captions on all images, wikilink more items-several paragraphs have no wikilinks. Rlevse 15:56, 7 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. :) --Mithril Cloud 16:21, 7 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

GA comment edit

For the article to maintain its GA status, the logos need detailed fair use rationales. Look to other passed GA/FAs for examples. Let me know on my talk page if you have any questions. --Nehrams2020 06:34, 3 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

MCO involvement edit

update Seems the MCO wants to collaborate. We may already do so here through the talk pages. --Mithril Cloud 05:02, 26 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
