lead section hard to read edit

the lead section (before the table of contents) is very hard to read. it mixes a bit of history, then some current info, then more history, then more current info... maybe it can be shortened to contain current state only, especially as there is already a history section later in the page ? --Richlv (talk) 03:12, 5 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Details for NSW edit

  • Standard Time Act, No. 38 of 1971. "An Act to establish standard times in New South Wales; to provide that during a certain period in each year standard time shall be advanced; to repeal the Standard Time Act, 1902; and for purposes connected therewith. [Assented to, 26th October, 1971]" [1]
    • Summer time applies "During the period commencing at the hour of two o'clock in the morning of the last Sunday in the month of October in each year and ending at the hour of two o'clock in the morning of the last Sunday in the month of February in the next following year".
    • The wording of sect. 5.5 appears to say that summer time was only to apply for the 1971–1972 year, I haven’t found the legal instrument that extended this.
  • Standard Time Bill 1987: explanatory note. [2] "The objects of this bill are — (a) to repeal the Standard Time Act 1971 and to re-enact its provisions in a clearer form; and (b) to extend the summer time period to the third Sunday in March."
    • Note third Sunday not last Sunday.
  • Standard Time Act 1987 No 149. Assented to 23.10.1987. Date of commencement, 28 days after assent.[3]
    • Note that summer time begins at 2am (clock moves forward to 3am), and ends at 2am (clock changes back 0200→0100 or 0300→0200 ?).
  • Standard Time Amendment (Daylight Saving) Act 2005 No 71 [4] "An Act to amend the Standard Time Act 1987 to enable the daylight saving period to be prescribed by regulation and to extend this period by one week in the year 2006; and for other purposes."
    • Ending changed from third Sunday to last Sunday: "a period starting at 2 am on the last Sunday in October in each year and ending at 2 am on the last Sunday in the following March"
    • For Lord Howe Island, summer time advance was changed from 1 hour to 30 minutes.
  • Standard Time Amendment (Daylight Saving) Act 2007 No 44. "An Act to amend the Standard Time Act 1987 to extend the daylight saving period from the first Sunday in October to the first Sunday in April; and for other purposes."
    • Definition of summer time amended to (first Sunday of October – first Sunday of April), with the exception that for 2006–2007 it would be (last Sunday of October – first Sunday of April).
