No sources at all are cited, though it seems clear that this article is a summary of plot elements from Herbert Asbury's largely fictional book, "The Gangs of New York," which does not cite any sources for information about "The Daybreak Boys" and was written over fifty years after these events supposedly took place. A search for "Daybreak Boys" in New York City newspapers from 1800 to 1900 on newspapers.com provides no results at all.
