I don't really know how to edit, but the category is serial killers, and I did too cite sources in the article itself. Slow Death by Jim Fielder.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Obi-Ben-Kenobi (talkcontribs) 04:21, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

just bad

this article cites nothing. i'm thinking this man is not real. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.65.219.219 (talk) 05:45, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Definitely real. Just do a Google search.71.63.15.156 (talk) 13:37, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

What???

"He was convicted of his crimes against Kelly Van Cleave, and then admitted to the murder of Angie Montaño (Note: Angie Montaño died due to a drug related incident after Ray was incarcerated, this was reported by attending medical personnel although the authorities stated to the press that it was due to pneumonia.), and his crimes against Cynthia Vigil. He died eight months after sentencing, having served two and a half years.[3]"

The explanation of how he murdered Angie Montaño isn't clear. The parenthetic statement seems to say that he didn't kill Montaño at all, but that she died after his imprisonment. If there is a more exotic explanation (e.g., he tortured her so badly that her death was considered to be the lingering result of the torture), then it should've been provided. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.36.249.18 (talk) 17:00, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

This article is nearly 100% erroneous

Ray was never convicted of murder. Montano died before her evidence could be presented in the original trial. Trial was never moved to "a small cow town." Ray did NOT serve two years of his sentence, he died of a heart attack before serving 1 DAY of his sentence. I am genuinely curious as to who wrote this article, and who allowed this to be published. This was staggering to read. Unbelievable. Why don't you amend the Henry VIII article while you're at it, and mention his penchant for playing World of Warcraft back in 1545, or document how President Clinton sailed around the world in a barge he constructed of toothpicks and popsicle sticks in AD 432? Because, that all happened too, brah. Seriously, if Wikipedia is just an unchecked free-for-all, I'm going on the Stravinsky page to write about how, in 1947, he conducted the London Philharmonia in a command performance of "Le Sacre" before the King of Prussia, wearing nothing but a lace garter, and a tee-shirt with the words "Im not gay but my husband is" spelt in rhinestones. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.167.128.230 (talk) September 28, 2010

I am not sufficiently familiar with the subject to comment substantively; but I've raise it with the Serial Killer task force. Hopefully, some members will join this discussion. TJRC (talk) 21:24, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
I will check this as soon as I can. zubrowka74 16:54, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

Why is Parker included in Serial Killers at all? There appears to be no evidence of his having killed anyone. His cohorts accused him of several killings, but these claims were spurious and never confirmed at all. It seems weird that he should be credited with having murdered 60 people, when there is no evidence of even a single murder. I have re-written the opening paragraph to reflect this, but I think a re-checking of whether he belongs in this category at all is in order, as well as reconsidering his placement on the list of List of murderers by number of victims. A quote from TruTV: "No bodies were ever found, no possible victims were identified, and no suspicious deaths loosely associated with Ray were solved." --TEHodson 08:29, 1 October 2010 (UTC)

Yet from the same source I could quote : In June, Ray's second trial began. Again, he started up with claims of innocence, but within a week, he had reached an agreement in a plea deal. He said he was willing to plead guilty to the charges in exchange for cutting a deal for his daughter: she would receive five years of probation. To his mind, her freedom was the greatest gift he could give her. In this deal, Ray received more than 223 years in prison. You don't get a 223 year plea deal for abduction and rape... zubrowka74 03:49, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

Why does it say something about him taking a plea deal so that his daughter gets a lesser sentence? Who is his daughter? Cindy Hendy? It doesn't mention a daughter being involved anywhere else in the article...

There was a daughter implicated in some of Parker's crimes -- Glenda Jean "Jesse" Ray. See http://www.trutv.com/library/crime/serial_killers/predators/david_parker_ray/1_index.html and http://amarillo.com/stories/051499/new_forward.shtml Bustter (talk) 09:06, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

tv Documentary

There is a wealth of info in the British TV documentary http://www.geckoproductions.tv/prod_sex_chamber.html

It can be downloaded from the Cinemageddon torrent site. http://cinemageddon.net/details.php?id=45913 Bustter (talk) 18:18, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

More info here:

The article should mention Jim Fielder's book and the TV doc. A decent editor should try rebuilding the article from scratch using these resources & the TruTV website. There's no reason for an article this bad. Bustter (talk) 18:38, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

And there's another UK documentary about parker & his girlfriend -- Couples Who Kill - Evil in the Desert. torrentable: http://cinemageddon.net/details.php?id=100643 18:46, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

Transcript

Is it really relevent to put the whole tape transcript ? Couldn't it be cited throughout the article only when needed ? zubrowka74 17:12, 18 November 2010 (UTC)

Again, the whole tape transcript ir irrelevant and unnecessary. Also, the formatting is pretty horrible. I'll take it out. zubrowka74 17:28, 13 December 2012 (UTC)

Cindy or Cyndy

Cindy Hendy is used most places but not in the book quote - fix it or give a reason —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.74.75.137 (talk) 23:02, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

Someone has not been careful with the use of the names Cindy Hendy and Cynthia Vigil. They have been used somewhat interchangabley and these are two seperate people. Cynthia or Cindy Hendy was his accomplice, whereas Cynthia Vigil is the victim that escaped.

Please go ahead and make the edits to fix this. I won't be able to get to it until later tonight. Kingturtle = (talk) 16:46, 24 January 2011 (UTC)

These comments suggesting the article is inaccurate look like they were written by Ray's daughter based on having read some other things she has written. Very interesting! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.179.14.50 (talk) 17:37, 24 October 2013 (UTC)

Discovery Channel

Having seem some of the most appalling rubbish on the Discovery Channel, I really don't think it is a reliable source by Wikipedia standards. Zerotalk 10:42, 7 May 2013 (UTC)

Do you have anything other then you're opinion? --NOTALLWAYSLIKETHIS (talk) 21:26, 18 June 2017 (UTC)

Missing info

Article states a daughter was involved, doesn't mention her reporting of her fathers crimes, not does it mention the other two children of his, or whether he was married, ect. Sephiroth storm (talk) 08:20, 29 June 2017 (UTC)

Dennis Yancy

I've heard Dennis Yancy referred to as Roy Yancy in several podcasts, including Last Podcast on the Left. Is this something that should be mentioned? MargaretTalcott (talk) 21:06, 3 September 2018 (UTC)

Can Someone Semi Protect This Article?

Some guy keeps changing the victim count to 3 murder convictions, when in reality, Ray was never convicted of a homicide just kidnapping and torture charges. He has used numerous anonymous user IP’s to continue this disruptive editing as well as other similar articles. It’s really irritating how these unknown users keep making edits that don’t match what is in article and I really don’t think they should be allowed to edit wikipedia. multiple complete fabrications of facts

Article states that Kelli Van Cleave had her throat slashed and was left on the side of the road. This is completely incorrect. She was dropped off to her house by Ray, by which point her husband had decided to divorce her following her 3-day disappearance. He assumed she had been cheating on him and would not allow her access to the home without signing divorce papers. Due to her drug-induced memory loss and confusion, Van Cleave got back in the car with Ray who drove her to a friend’s house. This was a significant factor in the case as Ray was able to be identified by Van Cleave’s mother in law upon his arrest years later. How the author of this article got the idea that Van Cleave had her throat slashed and was dumped on a highway is a mystery. 2403:580B:4A3:0:CCCF:7A71:D0C1:A67D (talk) 13:46, 14 February 2022 (UTC)
