applying for which passport?

in Faroe Islands and the European Union, interesting (although unsourced) info is present on the fact that Danish residents of the Faroe Islands can choose which passport they whish (with Danish, or Danish-Faroese as nationality written); which also determines whether they are eligible to vote in EU elections. EU travel without a passport

"EU rules allow any citizen of a member country to travel anywhere in the EU without a passport" This may be true within the Schengen zone, but the UK, Ireland, Romania and Bulgaria are all in the EU but not the Schengen zone. It do not think it is true that one can pass from Calais to Kent simply by presenting an id card from an EU country but no passport. It is possible to travel from France to England, both by air, train or sea, using a national id card from an EU country. Except that Danish and British national id card don't exist.--BIL (talk) 07:13, 22 September 2016 (UTC)
