notability|Biographies

You need to put some references to where he has been reported on in the media. The one news story just mentions his name as one of those taking part in a debate. I found this article through the random article link. I have no agenda for or against him. Steve Dufour 03:56, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

A simple Google News search will yield hard media coverage of Daniel Imperato. I have not included any internet coverage that he has received but there are many newspaper articles written about him.jet092 06:46, 02 May 2007 (UTC)

Someone is playing games with this Article. I included several references in writing biographical information on Daniel Imperato citing sources as the Investors Business Daily, Boca Raton News, Palm Beach Post, and Washington Times. These references were deleted. Please do a Google News Archive search on Daniel Imperato and you can view all of those articles.jet092 06:56, 02 May 2007 (UTC)

LOL

I don't want to sound stupid or anything, but this guy's article reads like he's the kind of person dispensationalist (Rapturist) Christians would mark as the Antichrist. Anyway, um, yeah. So this guy is legit and is all these things? 75.64.0.37 05:32, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

Vanity Page

The article sounds like a vanity page, which Wikipedian rules do not allow. It is also written like an advertisement. For example, it refers to his so-called "keen insight" into business, etc. Also, how do we know that he started and created all of these businesses? Is there third party verification to back this up? The multimillion dollar telecom cable, did it ever get built? If it did then it would seem simple to have a third part reliable source to back it up? Is there an article in BusinessWeek, Forbes, Fortune, etc. to back up such a claim? I don't see it here.--Getaway 11:35, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

Also, there are literally hundreds of people that are running for President right now. However, Wikipedia has rules on who gets in the encyclopedia and not all of the hundreds of Presidential wannabees make in Wikipedia. Until Imperato gets a nomination of even an obsure party then it seems to be a vanity page at this point in time.--Getaway 11:37, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
I met and interviewed Imperato at a Libertarian Party event in Florida, and based on that interview and some additional research I've edited the page to clean up some of the obvious press release jargon. Imperato is absolutely a vanity candidate, a barely-coherent speaker, and a man unfamiliar with how party politics works. (He told a room of libertarians that he didn't know the difference between their philosophy and liberalism until that very day.) I'm not going to call him a liar, but for a man who claims to preside over billions of dollars in business transactions he has a very small and shabby campaign operation. All of that said, I support leaving this page up, as curious people who google his name should know that he's an oddball and not a serious candidate.--Davidweigel 02:05, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Obsure Party

I'm sure that once Imperato knows what an "obsure" party is, he will be sure to find one. Technically, Hillary Clinton, Rudolph Giuliani, and John McCain are not nominated by their party for President of the United States. Currently they are all seeking the nomination of their respective party just as Imperato has been seeking the nomination of the Libertarian Party, which is referenced in the Hickory Record Article. He is filed with the Federal Elections Commission, and has placed over $250,000 in his account per his last FEC Report. His previous business activities are archived in the Boca Raton News Article.--Jet0921 1:37, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

Seriously, you aren't comparing Imperato to Giuliani, Clinton, or McCain, are you? One quarter of million is what those folks raise each day--approximately. Also, the Boca Raton News is not the Miami Herald, much less the Washington Post. I don't see why he should have an article in Wikipedia. Finally, did you find an article that describes where that mysterious, multimillion dollar, undersea cable was actually built or some kind of confirmation that it was actually built? I don't see anything to that effect.--Getaway 20:05, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
As a candidate for the presidential nomination of a notable party (I believe the 3rd-largest in the US), I think it's a no-brainer that he's notable enough for an article. Presently the article reads like his rambling speech last weekend in Mobile, a dump of random honors and name-dropping, but that's different from the notability question. Any serious candidate for the LP nomination should be considered notable, but I suppose that leads to the question of how we define serious. Regards, PhilipR 16:27, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
No, I disagree. Just because someone is a candidate for a nomination to a major party does not make you notable. There are 9/10/11 well-known Republicans running for Rep Party nod (e.g., McCain, Giuliani, etc.) but there are tons of not well-known Republicans who really believe that they have a chance to pull off the nomination, local elected dog-catchers from Moscow, Idaho, for example, that are members of the Republican Party, but stand a snowball's chance in Hades of getting the nomination. Imperato is the not even a dog-catcher of the Libertarian Party. He has never been elected to any office and he stands next to zero chance of getting the nomination. So it is NOT a no-brainer that he should have an article. If we give him an article should we give every oddball who even talks about going after the nomination of any of the parties an article? No. He is NOT a serious candidate.--Getaway 20:07, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Questions? Ask them through Wikinews

Hello,

I'm Nick Moreau, an accredited reporter for Wikinews. I'm co-ordinating our 2008 US Presidential election interviews. We will be interviewing as many candidates as possible, from the Democrats, Republicans, and other parties/independents.

I'll be sending out requests for interviews to the major candidates very soon, but I want your input, as people interested in American politics: what should I ask them?

Please go to any of these three pages, and add a question.

Questions? Don't ask them here, I'll never see them. Either ask them on the talk page of any of these three pages, or e-mail me.

Thanks, Nick -- Zanimum 19:42, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

Suitability

There are six articles that are reference from Newspaper articles regarding Daniel Imperato. Appearances on local TV and media can also be cited. Whoever is placing the notability note on top of this bio for a lack of source citation should look at some of the other bios that are on this site. Let's have the same standard for everyone, and clearly Daniel Imperato has met the standard for notability. User:jet0982 17:42, 05, October 2007 (UTC)

Should he really be listed most prominently as an "Independent Libertarian?"

He seems to be running for the nomination of just about every third party in the country describing himself as an Independent (Name of Party Here). It appears that he is just as much an "Independent Green" or "Independent Reformer" as he is an "Independent Libertarian." Life, Liberty, Property 08:35, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

POV

I don't know much about this guy, but this article is a mess. There are many thinly-veiled POV statements of Imperato's "supposed" history and his "claimed" and "purchased" honors/achievements. I'll make a few fixes and requess for references, but the article will need more work. Rca82 (talk) 20:57, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

Not running for the Libertarian nomination any more

Since the Libertarian vote took place today, and Imperato wasn't even a candidate - http://www.lp.org/media/article_588.shtml - difficult to decribe him as running for that party's nomination. 92.236.53.45 (talk) 01:39, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

He did run just had no support

Imperato was at the LP convention in Denver, running as a candidate he just failed to garner any support. The LP requires Presidential candidate to acquire tokens from convention delegates to appear in the convention presidential debate and on the official convention presidential nominating ballots. I believe the required amount is 10% of delegates. There are two websites which covered the convention in detail independent political report and third party watch. Both of these sites focus on third party politics and are a wealth of info on the workings of the 2008 LP convention. Imperato apparently while not on the official ballot received one write-in vote [1], the same number of delegate votes he received at the Constitution Party convention. notability tagged article

Minor party presidential candidates are absolutely notable, and I believe minor party candidates who failed to get there parties nomination but demonstrated significant support are notable. There just doesn't appear to be much support for Imperato, by any measure. The article needs to establish notability or should be deleted. Highground79 (talk) 17:06, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Agreed. Notability is questionable at best.--JayJasper (talk) 18:44, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
I agree. He is on a template, and that in itself is notable. Kevin Rutherford (talk) 23:12, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

Why is this article still here?

I would like to know why this article is still here? There has been tons of debate about Imperato's notability and the consensus each and every time is that he is not notable. Why hasn't it been removed?--InaMaka (talk) 19:44, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

Actually, the second nomination ended in "no consensus"; don't know why the box at the top was incorrect. --Orange Mike | Talk 20:04, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
