Reason why Shiva did not stand up for Daksha in Brahma's Yajna

The current reason is: "Shiva, being Daksha's son-in-law, were considered superior in stature to Daksha".

However I cannot find this in the corresponding text of the translation of the Skanda Purana which is the reference provided. There is no reason given for why Shiva did not stand up:

"21-22. Once, by chance, Daksa came to the Naimisa forest. On arrival, he was duly honoured by the sages as well as by all Suras and Asuras by means of eulogies and obeisances. Mahadeva who was present there, did not stand up nor did he offer any reverential salutation to him. Therefore, Daksa became furious and he spoke these words:" (pg 4).

In the Shiva Purana however, there is a reason given:

"10. Daksa, of great splendour was honoured by the humble celestial sages with laudatory songs, obeisance, and the joining of palms in great reverence.
11. But lord Siva who indulges in diverse sports, sat firmly and did not bow to Him. Naturally the lord who is the cause of protection is independent.
12. Seeing Siva not bowing to him, my son became displeased. Daksa, the patriarch, was furious with Siva." (pg 396, Chapter 26, The cause of estrangement between Daksa and Shiva)

I propose that we change the current sentence to be as follows: "Brahma, being Daksha's father, was considered superior in stature to Daksha. Shiva did not stand as, being the cause of protection of the three worlds, he was independent." SourabhJ (talk) 02:18, 7 December 2022 (UTC)

@SourabhJ The Skanda Purana does include the reason here. It states that Shiva does not rise for Daksha because he regards himself to be superior to Daksha, and also cites his relationship with the latter - "Śruti lays down this also that an alliance (by way of marriage) is no cause for seniority at all. He whose strength, knowledge, power of penance and calmness are greater, shall be the senior to the others". The Shiva Purana is very much sectarian and portrays Shiva as the greatest of deities, so if you do wish to include it, please do preface it with, "According to the Shiva Purana".
