The picture

I think we need a better picture than the current one, Image:Cypresskoncert.jpg. It's essentially useless, as it is just a blur of color. Maybe a stock photo of the group, if copyright-allowed? --Whosyourjudas (talk) 00:00, 15 Nov 2004 (UTC)

I agree, although I think it would be better to have any picture than none at all... I don't see why we couldn't have a photo of a popular album of theirs just as we do on tons of other pages? aubrey 07:02, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
Why use a picture of Cypress Hill on The Simpsons? Is it really that hard to find a picture?the juggreserection 13:56, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
I also agree, I found it a disappointment to see a screenshot from The Simpsons as their picture. Gay15boy 04:36, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Beef wit Ice Cube/West Side Connections

King of the Hill from Bow Down CD is a response by WSC to some diss by cypress hill. Whats this about? Tutmosis 18:44, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

Go out on P2P and search for the Ice Cube song that trashes Cypress Hill. I'm not sure who started it, but the Cypress song makes a point of calling Ice Cube a "Dough Boy", which is probably an insult about his weight (and a reference to the character he played in Boys n the Hood). Secretagentwang 14:29, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

What's the name of that song?? RealG187 21:28, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
I guess it's "No Rest for the Wicked". It refers to ice cube's song Wicked West Coast Ryda 07:38, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
"busts WSC lyrics like..." come on, guys. Hrhadam (talk) 21:54, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

DJ Muggs Ethnicity

Its a well known fact to Cypress Hill fans that Muggs is Italian and not considered Latino. Among other sources, I invite you to visit his Wikipedia bio page (stating that he's Italian with a Norwegian surname). Google "DJ Muggs Italian" and there are hundreds of articles and website, including these two (the first from LA Weekly in which Muggs speaks on being a white Italian):

http://www.laweekly.com/music/music/side-tripping/3004/

http://www.keepmedia.com/pubs/RoughGuidesMusic/1999/10/01/285053?extID=10032&oliID=213

Whereas there isn't a single page on the entire web stating that Muggs is anything but Italian. So please keep the quote out, as it seems made made (there doesn't seem to be any page on the web that even reflects that quote ever made, save for sites using this wiki).

Sorry. For some reason I thought you were talking about Sen Dog. But just because Muggs in Italian, doesn't mean he can't talk about the "Latin flavor" that Cypress brings...what we should do is identify the contributor who provided the quote and ask them where they read it. Until then, we can leave it out.--Rockero 06:47, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
I beleive that Muggs, while not being Latino, was raised in a dominately Latino city. I don't remember where I heard this, but it sounds right to me. Also, he could be saying this as a representation of the Latino members of Cypress Hill in addition to himself, not directly representing himself alone. When I [ http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=As+Latinos+we+thought+it+would+be+a+good+idea+to+build+in+some+of+this+latin+jazz+flavor&btnG=Google+Search Googled the quote], the results seemed incunclusive. Many were either unreliable pages, or just copies of the Wiki page. However, some sites looked as if they were reliable. I can't make a sure say, though.
I'm a big fan of Muggs, but living in New York and then Los Angeles doesn't really make him Latino by proxy. He obviously knows aspects of Latin culture better than most Italians, it just seemed that the "we as Latinos" part was inaccurate. I wouldn't be surprised if B-Real or Sen were the ones that said it, and it was misquoted, but until someone can confirm the source (which may reveal if someone else from the group said it), we'll just keep it out.

The point of the wiki is to get the facts right, not to make a subjective statement about the music itself.

LA or South Gate?

I think we should say that they are from LA, and then maybe be abit more precise if necessary, Thing is that most people do not know South Gater, but everyone knows South Gate.HichamVanborm 16:33, 14 September 2006 (UTC) TRIVIA- APPEARED IN THE SIMPSONS

Cypress Hill is a place too!

Tres Equis

I know the title of the Spanish song Tres Equis means triple x (xxx). I'm not a big Spanish speaker and don't know what the hell they're saying, but I know is nasty stuff. Anybody got the English lyrics? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.171.37.115 (talk) 21:23, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Genre

Cypress hill is also rapcore band! Why you delete this genre? Raprockstail 18:20, 8. April 2008 —Preceding comment was added at 16:21, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

  • They performed rapcore for a really short period of time and released two albums with rapcore tracks. If they decide to bring the live band back and release another album with that kind of material, maybe the genre can be restored. But currently, they are mainly a hip hop group. (Ibaranoff24 (talk) 22:44, 29 May 2008 (UTC))
This is an encyclopedia, thus encompassing full history and detail. Whether they've released rap rock material or had a live band recently is irrelevant. Metallica haven't released any thrash material in some time, that doesn't mean they're not a thrash metal band. Cypress Hill are far more than just "hip hop", as any source will tell you. Keep removing the valid genres which have been on this article for years, and i or an endless amount of others will keep replacing them. Your argument has no logic. Ezenden (talk) 23:28, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
Even if we kept "rap rock" as one of the main genres, "Latin rap" and "hardcore hip hop" are still covered by hip hop music per the Musical artist infobox guidelines. (Ibaranoff24 (talk) 04:56, 31 May 2008 (UTC))

Hardcore hip hope and rap metal should be there, you could delete rap rock and rap metal and but rapcore. Rapcore is better to put on this encyclopedic site than rap rock.Tanner9461 (talk) 17:34, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

Cypress Hill in NYC?

Growing up in NYC I always saw these cats hanging around. All their early videos were filmed in the New York area. I thought they were from NYC taking there name from the Cemetery in Brooklyn. Also being that all the other Soul Assassins were New York based I kinda figured They were claiming New York. They stared in Who's the Man which featured all the great New York Rappers. Is this Just the West Coast claiming Cypress Hill after they moved there in the Late 90's. I mean I could be wrong but those dudes seemed to spend a lot of time here in New York.... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.76.171.233 (talk) 22:31, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Mellow Man Ace

The § Formation (1988) section says: "The band soon lost Mellow Man Ace to a solo career, and changed their name to Cypress Hill" This seems to indicate that Mellow Man Ace was never a member of Cypress Hill. If this is correct, then the article may need some minor changes. For instance, in the infobox on the right it mentions Mellow Man Ace as a past member. At the very least, his name should be followed by small text in parentheses that states he was only a member of DVX. And in the § Band members section near the end of the article, something similar should happen. Agreed? --82.136.210.153 (talk) 10:14, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

Cypress Hill

You stated, CYPRESS HILL'S origin as being from California. That's completely incorrect Heywood jablome (talk) 08:59, 13 May 2017 (UTC)
