Images of curve trace displays ?

edit

It would be useful to expand the article by showing some typical V-I curves for BJTs and FETs. DFH 18:38, 28 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

This might be what you are looking for:

I found it while looking for a "do it your self" circuit tester, it displays these patterns as you test the circuit, still looking.JSo9-10 (talk) 06:06, 23 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Nowadays?

edit

Are Sony/Tek still manufacturing any curve tracers? DFH 19:09, 28 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yes, you can find the 371B (high power) and 370B (high voltage) curves tracer in the tektronix website. They are minor evolutions of older systems (370, 371, 370A, 371A) which are more than 10 years old (basically, the oldest systems have no floppy disc, while the more recents have a 1.44MB floppy disc...). IIRC, the sony logo is no longer displayed on the curve tracers, but I might be wrong. CyrilB 21:16, 28 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Tube Curve tracer

edit
  • Let us not forget that Tektronix made a tube curve tracer (Model 570) meaning it traced the curves of electron tubes, not just being constructed using electron tube technology. Maybe provision should be made to include info? 69.117.136.18 01:23, 5 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

SEMICONDUCTOR curve tracers, or curve tracers in general?

edit

As far as I can tell, most if not all of this article is not specific to semiconductors, but applies to other DUT types as well (vacuum tubes, for example; but even passive elements like resistors can in principle be tested with a curve tracer). Would it make sense to remove the "semiconductor" part from the title and apply some (minor) edits to the text to make this article more general (not specific to semiconductors only)? Curve tracer is NOT a parameter analyzer

edit

The first sentence "A semiconductor curve tracer (also known as a semiconductor parameter analyzer) is a..." seems inaccurate. A curve tracer is used to determine the V-I *curves* of the DUT, while parameter analyzer is used to determine the *parameter values* of the DUT (for example gain, transconductance, etc.).
