GA Reassessment edit

Closing reassesment Was kinda hoping someone would do the merge so I could simply delist on a technicality. However, my concerns have largely been addressed, although the prose is still very repetitive (five of the seven sentences in "Route description" begin with CR236). I don't see the point of conducting a full review at this stage as it is most likely to be merged based on the discussion below. Going to close this one so someone familiar with merging road articles can do so. AIRcorn (talk) 08:26, 21 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Multiple clean-up tags are present, and have been for quite some time. Prose is also an issue The highway then intersects with Stump Road, which is the final stretch of CR 236. The highway then intersects with one of its suffixed routes, CR 236C (Glover Road). 'Each of Route 236's names comes with a different meaning from the town of Marcellus. There are possibly other issues too, but these are enough to delist the article in its current form. AIRcorn (talk) 04:48, 15 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

If multiple means three, then you're correct on the cleanup tags.
  1. The first one is claiming OR, yet that's not really correct. The citation documents the second half of that sentence and the first half needs a citation that it was named for the family. The solution is to find a citation for the naming, or remove the entire sentence.
  2. The second is incorrect so long as the map shows the residence on the modern CR 236, provided the sentence is revised to indicate that that road wasn't CR 236 at that time. ("There was also another Glover residence on what is now CR 236.")
  3. The third is resolved by stating that the county routes are not signed and not shown on maps. Then detail the exception.
All of that said, I don't think that this article would survive AfD if renominated today (the last time was a no-consensus result) and at best, this could be merged into the list of CRs in the county. The notability concerns do not impact listing or retaining this as a GA. The fixes to retain this as a GA are simple enough (minor copy editing for prose quality, minor copy edits to resolve the cleanup tags) that I wouldn't summarily delist this. The article can, and should, be fixed. Imzadi 1979  05:31, 15 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
Multiple means more than one. Some of those tags have been there since 2009 and I find that it is better to test the waters with these articles than to dive into a full on review. If no one has fixed old cleanup tags on a Good article after three years then there is a high chance that no one is going to respond to a review. If you can get it up to Good standard that is great and I will close this as kept. While notability may not be a concern for Good articles, having reliable references are and these can intersect. If you are willing to work on this article, I will conduct a fuller review. AIRcorn (talk) 08:22, 15 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
You would be right if not for the fact that the writer still does edit. This article was effective abandoned by us at WP:NYSR because we thought it would have been axed in the AFD, because we were the ones who started it. The sad fact is that the inclusionists came in and sunk that AFD. Anyway, admittedly, the article still does stink, I tried my best to clean it up to the NYSDOT reference used, but I am still not opposed to seeing the article overall go eventually. Hoping though that the current edits are sufficient enough. Mitch32(There is a destiny that makes us... family.) 13:31, 15 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
I support a merger to List of county routes in Onondaga County, New York. This county route is not notable enough for its own article and can be covered there. Dough4872 16:32, 15 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
This isn't a merge discussion and besides, I can't merge by consensus, AFD sank that option. Mitch32(There is a destiny that makes us... family.) 18:23, 15 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
I disagree on that; the AfD closed as "no consensus", meaning it didn't have a result that could bind us here. Personally, if we decide in the course of this GAR that the best course is a merger into the list (which I agree with in the long run), then I say the GAR delists and we merge. Anything else is bureaucratic red tape. Imzadi 1979  18:26, 15 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
While a little out of process, if everyone here agrees a merge is the best option then I am happy to go with that. Solves the GA issue in any case. AIRcorn (talk) 22:33, 15 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
Well then be my guest and delist it, I will do the axing myself. Mitch32(There is a destiny that makes us... family.) 22:37, 15 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
