– Pakistan recently completed delimitations of its electoral constituencies. It is the first time this exercise has been conducted since 2002. I was working on updating the constituency article titles in view of these new delimitations and was fairly well in when I discovered that I was doing something wrong. I was simply going by the nomenclature of "District name-XX" and moving the pages to a new article. For instance the old 'NA-5' (Nowshehra-I) was renamed to 'NA-25 (Nowshera-I)', as I saw in the new list.

Focusing on the "District name-XX" part was the mistake. The old constituencies names are no longer in effect as the Election Commission has a new top-down, clockwise approach to naming constituencies. So, effectively, with this method 'NA-5' should have been renamed to the new 'NA-26 (Nowshera-II)' when your compare the current constituency areas with those in the old ones.

This has caused issues with the naming of the above constituencies. I have compared and contrasted the areas of these constituencies with the old data and am requesting renaming of these pages. As the pages they are to be renamed to already exist, so I don't have the privileges to do it. Furthermore, this renaming exercise is important as these pages contain data for all the past elections in these areas and it is of utmost importance that the page title matches with that.

I'd appreciate the help in this regard. Thank you. Wiki.0hlic (talk) 20:13, 9 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Saadat Malik - please don't change any constituencies until we have resolved this issue. Kindly revert your edits back. This is more complex than mere renaming constituencies we have to look at areas delimited by ECP before moving/renaming constituencies. Thank you. Your wait in this regard would be appreciated.
