Dolomite and ophicarbonate/calcite
As pointed out by User:Licks-rocks, the origin of the dolomite is not obviously diagenetic - I had read "dolomitic" as "dolomitized" for some reason in the Feely et al. (2019) source. I'll reword that, taking into account Leake et al. (1975) who describe that dolomite as "primary" - my bad. Mikenorton (talk) 16:13, 16 May 2020 (UTC)
As to the term "ophicarbonate" or "ophicalcite", my understanding is that these terms refer to serpentinites with veins of calcite that are secondary, a result of alteration of ultramafic rocks with no primary carbonate minerals such as peridotites - see here for an example. However, Wyse Jackson et al. refer to the Connemara marble as an ophicarbonate. Myron Best in his "Igneous and Metamorphic Petrology" (2013) refers to ophicalcite being commonly a result of faulting in serpentinites, which is not the case in Connemara. I think that there are good reasons to avoid the term if we can. Mikenorton (talk) 16:13, 16 May 2020 (UTC)
