Pais speaks of "original Greek" but not of the original Aramaic. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.160.45.120 (talk) 10:56, 23 April 2011 (UTC)

The original Aramaic is unattested. And my point was merely that the Greek is original compared to Latin, not compared to Aramaic. Pais (talk) 10:45, 26 April 2011 (UTC)

Petras Petros distinction

No such distinction exists in Koine Greek, and it is the opinion of the vast majority of biblical scholars (including most Protestant scholars) that Peter is the rock referred to in Matthew 16:18. This section should be revised, as it would be misleading to claim that such a distinction exists. It should be noted that historically many Protestants have believed Peter to be a small rock, but that this position is not held by many bible scholars. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.70.72.205 (talk) 22:49, 16 February 2014 (UTC)

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your point, but I disagree that Peter is the "rock (that) I will build my church" is a what a majority of biblical scholars agree. Its actually the Catholic position. I believe it is the Protestant position that "the rock" is Peter's confession that Jesus was the Messiah (from Matt 16:16) and thus the church would be built on the foundation of confessing our sins to Jesus and growing the church with every soul that is saved.
