Notable community foundations section edit

I've added a references tag to this section. At the moment it's simpy a list of community foundations, some of which may be notable. We need independent references that show that experts in the field consider these notable. This should also give us sourced information we can use to put some context around the names listed so that we can make the section encyclopedic. If we can't get references in a few weeks I'll go ahead and delete the section. -- SiobhanHansa 16:58, 13 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

A good refernce source is the annual community foundation survey done by the Columbus (Ohio) Foundation http://www.columbusfoundation.org/GD/Templates/Pages/TCF/TCFSecondary.aspx?page=35 This would be a sourcce to determine the largest US community foundations.DIDouglass 19:43, 14 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks DIDouglass. I've redone the US section to include the top three from gifts received and grants made tables and the top 4 for total assets (top four because of the note about them controlling 24% of total assets). I don't think monetary size is the only significant factor we could look at - so if anyone has other ideas for good metrics or notability criteria please speak up! Also, any similar surveys for other countries would be great. I'll also try and at least stub articles for the foundations mentioned and red linked over the next few weeks. -- SiobhanHansa 17:45, 16 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
