Hi Calvin999! Thanks for reviewing the article. Beatleswhobeachboys (talk) 20:01, 26 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Calvin999: I've done some cleanup. Feel free to critique. Beatleswhobeachboys (talk) 14:56, 5 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm Calvin999 and I am reviewing this article.

Review
  • The flags in the info box are really outdated and redundant now. Just the first release date is used now.
    • Removed flags
  • Use a flat list template like on "Man Down" for the format in the info box
    • Flat-list template added
  • Genre shouldn't have a ref there, it should be sourced in the prose
    • Done.
  • New Wave is unsourced
    • I couldn't find any source for it, so i removed it.
  • Use a flat list for the genres too
    • Only one genre now, so there is no need.
  • No need to link Davis for the producer as he is linked as a writer
    • Done.
  • Include the year for the album in the lead
    • Done.
  • who would often frequent dance halls before she died of a heart attack while dancing at one. → Needs re-phrasing
    • Rephrased as "The song was inspired by Ray's memories of his older sister, Rene, who died of a heart attack while dancing at a dance hall."
  • In addition, "Come Dancing" was also an attempt to return to the band's roots after their extensive stadium touring. → Boring
    • Removed from lead.
  • sung from the perspective of an "East End barrow boy," → What doe this mean?
  • When first released as a single in Britain in November 1982, → Released in the United Kingdom in 1982
    • Done.
  • to its English subject matter → Subject matter?
    • Reworded as "English subject matter of dance halls"
  • reached number six → reached number six on the Hot 100
    • Done.
  • Background section, you use his first name and surname, but you should just use his surname
    • As I said on your talk page, there are multiple people with the surname Davies involved (brothers Ray and Dave in the band, sister Irene and uncle Frank serving as inspiration for the lyrics and video). I'm unsure as to how this should be changed.
  • Writing and recording section, you use his full name. Just use his surname.
    • As above.
  • to use that milieu → milieu?
    • Changed to "context"
  • Release and reception, make this Release, and make the Critical opinion sub-section a Critical reception section
    • Done.
  • Weekly singles charts. Column of table needs to be shaded, and I would remove the title of the sub section called Weekly singles charts. Just the table is fine.
    • Done.
  • Musical section should be before the credits, perhaps after the Music video section
    • Done.
I believe I've addressed the issues above: as for pictures, I probably could add a picture of Ray Davies from Wikimedia Commons somewhere or a screenshot of the music video. I don't feel it is really necessary though. Beatleswhobeachboys (talk) 14:22, 13 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
I've added a picture of Davies from Wikimedia Commons; I've also cleaned up the rationale for the single sleeve. Beatleswhobeachboys (talk) 15:00, 13 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Calvin999, I added a pic of drummer Mick Avory as well.
Okay, let me know when you're done.  — Calvin999 07:49, 14 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
I believe I finished. Beatleswhobeachboys (talk) 14:07, 14 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Outcome

I don't think this is good article quality I'm afraid. It needs work, the layout and phrasing needs addressing. No images are included, either, which is a shame. Issues with sourcing, particular the genres.  — Calvin999 18:30, 12 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

I have changed my outcome per discussion on my talk page from nominator.  — Calvin999 08:02, 13 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
Passing.  — Calvin999 08:01, 14 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
