Launch Date

Club Penguin has some positives but it needs work, and I see some changes that could be made. But overall I think in the near future it will become a good, clean fun RPG. Well, enjoy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.234.133.8 (talkcontribs) 15:27, 16 March 2006

I have it confirmed that Club Penguin officially launched on October 24th, 2005! [[1]] —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.229.186.133 (talkcontribs) 17:19, 27 May 2006

  • CORRECTION: Club Penguin opened it's door on the 22nd of August, with limited spaces for testers, it would be quicker when everyone was aloud in. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Detective Doggity (talkcontribs) 07:19, 30 May 2006

Secrets section

Hi, I've removed the secrets section of this article. If you're wondering why, please take a look at the guidelines about what Wikipedia is not. Amongst these its clear that Wikipedia is not a "how to" guide, so this section is not appropriate. Thanks, Gwernol 20:44, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

Some major edits

Ok, I've removed the fan sites' section, and the section about upcoming events. We don't want advertisements, and this page isn't a bulletin board to list events on. So they're gone. Also, I added a few new sections, and generally fixed up the article, hopefully making it more acceptable. I'm still changing a few things on the article, but those are the larger edits out of the way now. Tetsumonchi 00:53, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

Thank You

Alright, I really never saw reason for this page to be deleted but of course, I wasn't here when all this junk showed up around here. Thank you for cleaning it up! Good on you all! --WaitorWaitorWaitor 01:42, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

Controversy over deletion of article

OMG I GOT A BUNCH OF INFORMATION OFF HERE! THIS PAGE WAS GREATTTTT!! HOW DARE U DELETE IT!! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 167.206.69.41 (talkcontribs) .

  • Folks, first please calm down and avoid obscene and offensive comments. They do not help your case. The reason this page was deleted is that it had previously been deleted after a discussion by the community that concluded the page was non-notable. You can view that discussion here. If you believe the latest incarnation of the article should be restored, you can submit it for review here. Good luck, Gwernol 14:48, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
  • I agree with gwernoll. Rather than gripe like that, you can Request Undeletion. --Corporal Punishment 05:03, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
  • I also agree with gwernoll. Because what's anger going to do? Nothing. So if your mad just calm down. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Call of duty (talkcontribs) 23:06, 12 June 2006

I agree with 70.48.206.120 just BIB! it was excellent! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Crazy 29 (talkcontribs) .

  • If you want that article's deletion to be reviewed, do what Corporal Punishment suggested and file a undeletion request. Until someone does that nothing will happen. That is the only way to get the article back and then it will only happen if you can present verifiable evidence from reliable sources that the subject matter is notable. Gwernol 20:35, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
  • Here is a tip if you want the article back. Convince the community that the article will appeal to anyone else that's not a member of Club Penguin.Abby724 00:04, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
  • Shame. I was going to go on it and try to find out what Club Penguin, the #1 game on Miniclip was all about.--Death motor 04:54, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
    • Well, club penguin is about talking and playing mini games and building money by playing mini games. But, you'll get bored a lot of times. Call of duty 05:42, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
  • I need to get to a website with tips and info on Club Penguin. It is a specific website. I do not remember the name. AND THE ONLY LINK THAT I KNEW WAS IN THIS ARTICLE!!!!!!—Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.5.84.66 (talkcontribs) 11:45, 21 June, 2006
    • HEY I THINK THAT LINK SITE WAS CALLED FROSTY PENGUIN!! PLEASE IF YOUR NOT GOING TO BRING BACK THE ARTICLE!! CAN YOU PLEASE POST THE FAN SITES FOR US AT LEAST HERE!! THANK YOU SO MUCH WIKIPEDIA!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.71.121.48 (talkcontribs) 00:11, 23 June 2006
  • Non-notable? You call Club Penguin non-notable? Are you crazy? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.5.84.66 (talkcontribs) 11:47, 21 June, 2006
  • I never saw the page before it was deleted, but if restored back to Wikipedia, what would make the page "notable", and can anyone give me an idea of what was it about the page beforehand that made it un-notable (i.e. wording that the page had)? I'm interested in filing for undeletion, but I don't want to make any actions if I'm unable to justify it in the end. Thank you in advance. 207.173.225.196 01:13, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
  • I reckon it should have stayed there i mean it is a great game im gonna re-create it. with a reason —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Frostypenguin1 $ (talkcontribs) . 09:27, 24 June 2006
    • You are kidding right? This game is the worst game ever created. If anyone dare challenge me on that I will gladly prove it to you. This article was correctly deleted so everyone just deal with it. A note to people that play this game: get a life. --Eddie 17:15, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
    • I think that Club Penguin is notable enough for an article, and I don't even play on it!--Jordan 05:21, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

I agree...

.... with all the people who say that Club Penguin is popular, U know RuneScape , look how many people go on that. More people go on Club Penguin because it is no.1 on the miniclip chart. RuneScape number 2. I still like RuneScape but mure people go on Club Penguin then RuneScape.--I.W 21:01, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

  • I agree. This makes it more notable than Runscapem, but Runescape still has a page. --Jordan 05:24, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
  • I see your point. I guess other people besides fans might harbor itnerest for this article. It being the top fo Miniclip's games did drive me to search for a Club Penguin article... However, you'll have to consult reviving this article with the administrators. Also, you migt also want other contributors. I checked the history of this page, and only one person contributed to this article. That was the person who started this article. I'm not sure the statement "MILLIONS OF PEOPLE PLAY THIS GAME" is fact. If you would like to include this in the article (if it is revived) you have to site your sources. Also, if the article IS revived, please make sure it's NPOV. I'm just speculating, but from the looks of the discussion page, it seems the article was very POV. Abby724 21:11, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

i have a question

Just now, I looked up whats happening on club penguin and somebody said that they have a video thing and want to advertise club penguin. And club penguin said, "sure! Just give us the link and we'll do it!". Im wondering if that is legal or not. Please tell because if it is i dont want club penguin being sued for it because i like it a lot.- Call of duty 00:03, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Getting the article back

You know, if you guys put half the effort into trying to get the article back as you have in making pointless posts here, who knows, maybe you'd have the article back? For the third time, ask for a |deletion review if you want the article undeleted. There is no other way. Adding messages here does nothing towards your goal. Gwernol 03:42, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

Gwernol is correct. Whining shall not bring the article back from the dead. Unless you whine with a good reason in the Deletion review. You may also want to check the reasons for deletion as to find out why the article was deleted, and perhaps learn how to convince the administrators as to why this article should be revived. I myself haven't seen the article before it was deleted, so if you manage to get the article back, make it good for all the casual readers out there who want to learn more about Club Penguin.

A few tips-

  • Cheats are innapropriate in an encyclopedia.
  • A Neutral Point of View is critical to an encyclopedia's article.
  • Encyclopedia's usually do not include glitches or bugs unless notable.
  • Do not vandalize the article you want back. I have noticed at least one of the people who want the article back has actually vandalized it.

Abby724 22:29, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

Is there a way to read the article that was there before it got deleted? I'm really interested in what this article was about now. --JD[don't talk|email] 22:31, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
Nope. Sorry. Even if you click the "History" tab of the article, you shall not find it archived in there. I too am interested in what this article looked like when it was still here. But apparently, we'll never know until a bunch of fans manage to revive the article. No clue when that will happen though. Abby724 22:39, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

Mass Sucide

I say if they don't bring back our beloved article on "Club Penguin" lets commit mass sucide!!! I say bring it back or we shall all die of heart break, because our site is gone!!! - Little Spike 7:45pm EST, July 17th, 2006

If you want the article back so badly, take it to WP:DRV. Having a sook about it on here isn't going to get your beloved article back. --JD[don't talk|email] 23:54, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

To much to read on that deletion policy page and none of it makes sense!! So we basically ask you before we all die of heart break to bring it back for us!! - Little Spike 8:06pm EST, July 17th, 2006

Heartbreak is biologically impossible in that respect. If you're that serious about wanting this article back, you would take the time to read WP:DRV. --JD[don't talk|email] 00:10, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

How can I take the time to read that huge pointless article, when I'm already dying from heartbreak! Us lovers of this former article are in the process of dying!! Please return our Club Penguin to us before we fall away forever! - Little Spike 8:14pm EST, July 17th, 2006

If you love the article so much, show your love by reading WP:DRV. That's the only way that this article even stands a chance of being undeleted. --JD[don't talk|email] 00:19, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

Check this out Heartbreak if you don't believe we are dying!! - Little Spike 8:18pm EST, July 17th, 2006

Well, you shouldn't be dying. Oh dear, clicking on the first subsection of the page is so exhausting. And reading two sentences is also exhausting. Well, if you do die, at least someone gets insurance money. It seems one of the Club Penguin fans actually had the guts to request for the article. And guess what? It seems they have answered his request. And if the whole article (WP:DRV) was pointless, then why hasn't it been deleted?Abby724 17:22, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
Actually, the page doesn't look that bad. It may have a bit of unnecessary content, but it looks good to me. Could somebody give me the link to the AfD please? --JD[don't talk|email] 17:30, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
Here you go: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Club Penguin Gwernol 17:37, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
By the way the article is completely unsourced and therefore unverifiable in addition to the points discussed in the AfD. Gwernol 17:39, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
Thanks. That AfD is shorter than I pictured it to be. Is sourcing the only major problem, or is it the whole WP:WEB thing as well? --JD[don't talk|email] 17:41, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
Yes, you'd have expected all the people who are so concerned about its deletion to have expressed an opinion when this was debated, eh? Anyway, it was deleted for failing WP:WEB. The lack of sources was not discussed in the AfD though it certainly is an issue with the article. Most of the text would have to be sourced or removed if the article was reinstated. Gwernol 17:50, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
Well if all those people want the article back, they're gonna have to work for it I guess. I know I wouldn't put my time and energy into an article I know nothing about. --JD[don't talk|email] 11:14, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

What happened?

This website surely deserves an article considering it has been at the top of the miniclip list for several weeks and is growing. The admins who refuse to tolerate the website on the grounds that it is "childish", are hurting nobody but themselves. Only wikipedia itself suffers when those with privileges abuse their power. If this continues, we will see what Wikipedia has clearly stated that it does not want. A separate class of editors who rule thorigh their powers and free speech is stifled. Deletion debate

If you want to contribute to the current (third) deletion debate you can do so here. Please remember this is about WP:NPOV, WP:Verify, WP:OR and WP:WEB mainly, not about how "cool" CP is. It is also not a poll, so, while you can record a view, don't expect it to carry weight against evidence. What would be useful is

  • Mainstream reviews of CP.
  • Verifiable data.

Other information?

What other information can actually be included in this article, so that if most of what's there were to be removed the article wouldn't end up being a stub? I can't find anything on Google that might be the slightest bit informative - I can't even find a source to confirm the launch date, as everything Google finds is meaningless as far as the development of this article is concerned. talk to JD wants e-mail 19:25, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

When I was look at the AFD page for today I found that the first AFD for Club Penguin was there. Can someone put the correct on up. --Edgelord 22:30, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

The link in the title, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Club Penguin (third nomination), is the third AfD of this article. Are you referring to something else? talk to JD wants e-mail 22:32, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

An anonynmous IP editor tried to AfD the article, but didn't get the process right. We ended up with the first (closed) AfD on the AfD page and the link from the article pointing to a non-existent 4th. AfD. I undid the mess (I think). Given how recently the last AfD close I warned the anon IP that another one would probably be taken as a bad faith nomination and they have not tried to reinstate it. Gwernol 22:38, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

Actually there is still a problem. I try to explain it better this time. If I go to the AFD page a click on the listing for Todady (August 25) the first AFD for this article (deleted March 23)is on that list but the one closed toady that was kept is not. I am not sure how to fix this so I was asking someone with more experience if they could remove the old AFD and put the one from today in its place. --Edgelord 22:53, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
Ah, thanks, I missed that. I've removed the old Club Penguin AfD from today's listing. The third one is still at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Log/2006_August_20#Club_Penguin. Although it closed today, it is listed on the August 20th. page since that is when it opened. AfDs always list on the page of the day they start on. I think everything is cleared up now but if you find anything else, let me know. Gwernol 23:04, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

secret agents

People are not supposed to find out how to do stuff like become an agent on wikipedia like some sort of cheat site! The whole paragraph should be removed, and I am doing up the general tone of the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fuzzibloke (talkcontribs)

Please sign your comments with four tides (~). It's good that you're trying to help wikipedia, but please, could you explain a little more why the Secret Agents section should be removed? I don't see anything wrong with it being in the article or telling people about it. Abby724 22:05, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
(edit conflict with Abby 724) WP is not a cheat site, it is true, but it also not censored for minors. (WP:NOT) So whether these details go in is based on their encyclopaediarity and verifiability. Rich Farmbrough 23:08 29 August 2006 (GMT).

Look, the way to become a secret agents is for loyal players to work out on their own. I think the actual way of becoming an agent should be removed.Fuzzibloke 12:04, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

But its not exactly a cheat, since its been said how to do it by the staffs site themselves. -Moozipan
