Global or Worldwide Classifieds

Is there such a thing as a true global classifieds advertising site. Well yes there is, In theory anyway.

All classifieds are global by the very fact they are open to all internet users, no matter where they live.

But in the true context of the word, has any classifieds site actually set up a board for a global context. The plain answer is no, at least not until now that is!!??

To be classed as a true Global classifieds, there have to be many considerations, not least the category presentation and the targeted Sellers and Buyers. Its not correct to call an advert for a car, posted in a normal classifieds as global when that car could only be sold in the country of the adverts origin. But, when a advert is placed for a small hotel in a holiday district of any country that would be classed as a global advert.

A true global classifieds can only be as such when its targeting "Business adverts". whether they be corporate or just private. To do this, the classifieds board has to present its categories and features applicable to a global audience. And the area of application must be what it says, "Global" not nationwide or even selective countries. It must cover "Every" country on the planet.

Are we all going to allow ourselves to be duped by slick search engine submission that purports one thing that it is in fact not!. And thats the whole crux of classifieds. Many are not what it says it is.

I have looked at global advertising for some time, running my own classifieds boards and cannot beleive there is not one true global advertising site. From all those claiming to be global classifieds, I have not found one that has a translation program, this is necessary, not one that has the correct categories, this is necessary, not one that has options avaiable to suit different types of adverts, this too is necessary. Most classifieds are carbon copies of others with very few features that differ from the rest.

I have spent the last 6 months trying to build a true global classifieds site. It is up and running, and is the nearest thing i can get to a true global advertising site, and even i am not satified that it offers everything required for true global advertising. But its the nearest thing to global classifieds at this time. Its a good site, but its not perfect, yet, but i will get there soon and it will become what it says it is, the TRue Global Classifieds. Yes i know its a bold statement, but it is set up for global advertising only.

So, why are almost all the other worldwide and global advertising sites offering something that they are not. And that is my question to all who read this. I would suggest its because the majority that read classifieds boards want to beleive the claims are true.

By the way, my site is <site removed>

Interesting question! Hopefully someone will take the time to answer it. I do wonder why you used the phrase "global advertising" so much... couldn't have anything to do with SEO, could it? I took the liberty of removing the link to your own site. Have a nice day. Rhobite 23:48, 29 October 2005 (UTC)

Restructuring

This article is in desperate need of some cleanup and restructuring, to hopefully make it conform to Wiki standards and curb some of the spam. Let's get together and form a to-do list for this. Suggestions? Rockstar915 23:48, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

Link spamming

Do not add your own website to this article, as it will be removed. If you continue to add it, you will be blocked. I'm sick of removing linkspam from this article. Rockstar915 15:45, 2 April 2007 (UTC) Sorry, I thought that people would like to see the geographic areas covered by the Craigslist websites.<small>—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.251.77.188 (talk • contribs) 01:08, 26 April 2007 (UTC).</small> :Yes, it is interesting information, but more suited for Craigslist's article than an article about classifieds generally. Well, you are talking about the article, but what about the discussion? If I want to do like a list of classified ads websites in the UK, will you remove it? The discussions aren't supposed to be published are they? I can understand that in the article it would be maybe 'too much', but into 'discussion', it should be ok? How many people read them anyway? Less than 2% of the people who read the article, I guess! PS: Let me know your point of view about that. --125.24.174.230 (talk) 04:41, 4 March 2009 (UTC)Gwengoat

Apparently no answer to my question, then, here it might be possible to ad a list ( anyway, it will be removed if not ) The biggest classified ads websites in the UK are :

It's all I have in mind. I've used them often. They are ok.

See Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not#Not a directory. If we included the top 5 classified ad websites for every country (or even every English speaking country) then the links section would be unmanageable. DurovaCharge! 15:33, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

I deleted the section in line 20 about Rididi.com. The grammar was embarrasingly bad, the tone was not neutral, and showed obvious biases. The writer also used the first person plural ("we") incessantly, making the writing seem amateurish. There was no valuable information in the section. - Tokyowiki (talk) 17:12, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
