This article appears to make vague references to forms of City council in Australia and the USA, but a city council is a form of government to be found all over the world. The article needs heavy cleanup to reflect the many different international forms of city councils. In particular, references to "aldermen" and "strong mayors" would be most unhelpful in jurisdictions where these do not exist. The article also over-emphasises the power of mayors; in particular, in the UK, many mayors are merely ceremonial figureheads who hold little formal power. DWaterson 19:59, 5 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

"municipal assembly"

edit

This page states: 'Swedish law uses the term "municipal assembly" to describe these bodies in English'. What's the source for this? As far as I know, Swedish laws are only written in Swedish, never in English. Swedish is the official language of Sweden. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.250.47.221 (talk) 23:30, 23 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

You can find it a translation of the Swedish Local government act (Kommunallagen) issued by the Government of Sweden. http://www.regeringen.se/content/1/c6/02/95/35/ca584fee.pdf --Muniswede (talk) 08:10, 24 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
